Introduction:Glioma is the most common type of primary central nervous system tumor in human body.Glioma is a great threat to human life.Due to the lack of effective diagnosis and treatment of patients with advanced glioma, the prognosis is poor. Thus, investigation of potential biomarkers with high sensitivity and specificity for the early detection of glioma is needed.Micro RNAs(mi RNAs)are a family of abundant nonprotein coding, evolutionarily conserved and endogenously expressed 17–24 nucleotide single-stranded RNAs that regulate gene expression at the post-transcriptional level.A large number of data indicate that micro RNA plays an important role in a variety of pathophysiological processes, including tumor growth, proliferation, cell invasion and apoptosis. In recent years,it has been found that the abnormal expression of micro RNA in human body is related to glioma,so micro RNA can be used as a biomarker for the diagnosis and prognosis of glioma..However,because of methodological difference various sample size and demographic differences of their research objects, the diagnostic value ofmicro RNA for glioma remains controversial. Objective:To evaluate the detection of micro RNAs(mi RNAs)in circulation for diagnosis of glioma. Methods:Pub Med,the Cochrane Library,ISI Web of Science,CNKI,Wan Fang and VIP databases were searched.Literatures regarding to the diagnostic values of peripheral blood circulating mi RNAs for glioma published before Dcember,2016 were collected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria.Meta-analysis was performed by stata12.0 and Meta-disc1.4.Results:Nine publications with ten studies involving 1394 cases were included in this meta-analysis.The results of meta-analysis indicated that the pooled sensitivity and specificity of circulation mi RNAs for diagnosis of glioma were 0.84(95% CI: 0.74 ~ 0.90)and 0.88(95% CI: 0.81 ~0.92),respectively.The positive likelihood ratio was 6.98(95%CI:4.48 ~ 10.88)and the negative likelihood ratio was 0.18(95%CI:0.11~ 0.30).The diagnostic odds ratio was 38.20(95% CI: 18.69~78.09).The SROC AUC was 0.93 under the curve, and the Q * value was 0.86.Conclusion:The detection of body fluid mi RNA has the advantages of small trauma, easy operation, simple and feasible, dynamic detection, and so on.It has high diagnostic value in the diagnosis of glioma, and has a good application prospect. However, sample type is the major source of heterogeneity. It is necessary to do a lot of research on the use of body fluid mi RNA in clinical diagnosis of gliomas.
