Objective:To explore the relationship among waist circumference(WC),waist-to-hip ratio(WHR),waist-to-height ratio(WHt R),body mass index(BMI)and blood pressure of middle and elderly people in rural areas of Jilin Province. Methods:A total of 2608 people(over the age of 35)from some rural areas(Dong Feng and Jing Yu country)of Jilin province were selected by cluster multistage and random sampling from July to September in 2013.All database were established in Epidata3.1 and analyzed with SPSS23.0 software package. The measurement data were expressed by mean ± standard deviation. The count data were expressed by rate and constituent ratio. The count data of two groups were compared with Chi-square test, and multiple(3 and more than 3)groups were compared with trend chi-square test.Linear correlation analysis was used to obtain the correlation between blood pressure and relative factors.Determine the significance level ? =0.05,with values of P < 0.05 were considered statistically significant.Results:1.Basic information of the research objectA total of 2608 people were investigated in this survey with median age(54.80±10.36)years old, including 1180 males(45.2%)and 1428 females(54.8%).2.Relationship between demographic characteristics, anthropometric parameters and blood pressure2.1 Demographic characteristics of people with different blood pressureA total of 998(38.3%)cases,which consist of 467(44.3%)males and 531 (55.7%)females have hypertension. The ratio of male to female is 1:1.1.The prevalence of hypertension in women(39.6%)was higher than that in males(37.2%),and there was no significant difference in the prevalence of hypertension between male group and female group(P=0.211).In this study, the constituent ratios of the hypertension group and non-hypertension group in different age groups was diverse. The proportion of the population in each age group was 17.5%,32.3%,32.3%,14.4% and 3.3%,respectively.The prevalence of hypertension showed an upward trend with advancing age(?2trend=172.01,P<0.001).2.2 Comparison of the prevalence of hypertension among different WC,WHR and WHt R groupsThe prevalence rate of hypertension of centripetal obesity[WC(male?85cm or female?80cm),WHR(male?0.9 or female?0.8),WHt R?0.5]was significantly higher than the normal group(P<0.001).2.3 Comparison of the prevalence of hypertension among different BMI groupsThe prevalence of hypertension of different BMI groups[malnutrition group(BMI<18.5),normal weight group(18.5<BMI<24),overweight group(BMI=24)and obesity group(BMI=28)]showed an upward trend with the increase of BMI(?2trend=112.83,P < 0.001).3.Linear correlation analysis between blood pressure and related physical indexesLinear correlation analysis suggested that blood pressure was positively related to BMI,WC,WHR and WHt R.Systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure were all most closely related to WC.Conclusion: 1.The blood pressure levels and prevalence of hypertension of overweight, adiposity and centripetal obesity among middle and elderly people in rural areas of Jilin province were higher than that of the normal.2.Systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure were positively related to BMI,WC,WHR and WHt R,and which were all most closely related to WC of middle and elderly people in rural areas of Jilin province.
