Objectives:The aim of the study is to compare the Hb A1 c levels among Tibetan and Han highland dwellers recently migrating to plain and Han residents living at sea level for long term with normal glucose tolerance(NGT).Factors influencing the levels of Hb A1 c were expolored. We expected to provide clinical reference for medical staff explaining some high Hb A1 c Phenomenon reasonably and promote glucose management well of Tibetan and Han highland dwellers recently migrating to plain.Designs and Methods:By convenience sampling methord, health volunteers coming from Tibet in three monthes and who living at plain were selected. Then we collected blood samples follow a 8 to 12 hours fast of 274 Tibetan(TH group)and 144 Han(HH group)highland dwellers recently migrating to plain and 152 Han residents living at sea level for longterm(HSL group)with NGT to measured Hb A1 c cocentration by the boronate affinity HPLC analyzer(HB9210 and Ultra2,Primus Co,USA).All data were analyzed by Empower stats software. The measurement data were described in Mean±SD.The count data used constituent ratio.Comparison among groups used variance analysis and chi-square test. The influence of each variable on Hb A1 c used linear regression analysis.Results:1.The level of Hb A1 c of TH,HH and HSL groups were 5.52±0.47% ?5.38±0.40% and 5.29±0.33% respectively. There was significant differences between TH group and HSL group(P<0.01),but no significant difference between HH group and HSL group(P=0.09).2.There was significant difference of Hb A1 c levels between TH group and HHIV group(P=0.01).3.The single factor analysis of gender, age, the height of altitude, the level of RBC,the level of Hb,OGTT 0h glucose concentration and OGTT 2h glucose concentration on Hb A1 c levels of TH group were statistically significant(P<0.05).The single factor analysis of gender, smoking status,BMI and OGTT 0h glucose concentration on Hb A1 c levels of HH group were statistically significant(P<0.01).The single factor analysis of OGTT 0h glucose concentration on Hb A1 c levels of HSL group was statistically significant(P<0.01).4.Multiple linear stepwise regression analysis with Hb A1 c as a dependent variable showed that races,OGTT 0h glucose concentration,OGTT 2h glucose concentration,RBC and BMI were entered into the regression model in highland dwellers recently migrating to Plain with NGT.The regression model is meaningful(F=31.65,P =0.00),R2=0.564.And only age and OGTT 0h glucose concentration entered into the regression model in Han residents permanently lived at sea level with NGT.The regression model is meaningful(F=13.20,P =0.00),R2=0.401.Conclusions:1.The level of Hb A1 c of TH group was higher than HSL group. But the level of Hb A1 c between HH group and HSL group were not different.2.The level of Hb A1 c in TH group was higher than HH group.3.The level of Hb A1 c elevated with the height of altitude,OGTT 0h glucose concentration and OGTT 2h glucose concentration for TH group, male of which had higher Hb A1 c level than femal. And the level of Hb A1 c was positive correlated with RBC and Hb level in male of TH group. The subjects who quited smoking had higher Hb A1 c levels than no smoking in HH group. The level of Hb A1 c elevated with BMI and OGTT 2h glucose concentration in HH group, male of which had higher Hb A1 c levels than femal. And the level of Hb A1 c was positive correlated with RBC in male of HH group. The level of Hb A1 c elevated with OGTT 0h glucose concentration in HSL group.4.The independent influencing factors of highland dwellers recently migrating to plain with NGT were races,RBC,BMI,OGTT 0h glucose concentration and OGTT2 h glucose concentration. But only OGTT 0h glucose concentration and age were independent influencing factors of Han residents who permanently lived at sea level with NGT.
