Levels Of IL-17,IL-18 And IFN-? In Serum Of Patients With Moderate To Severe Acne Treated By Integrated Traditional Chinese And Western Medicine

Objective:Acne is a common clinical skin disease with complicated pathogenesis.It is similar to "lung wind acne" recorded in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).Modern medicine believes that Propionibacterium acnes and inflammation are particularly important throughout the pathogenesis of acne.Propionibacterium acnes can stimulate the body to produce a variety of cytokines.Studies have reported that IL-17,IL-18 and IFN-? were related to inflammation,but the relationship with acne is not clear.There are many factors that affecte acne and difficulties to treatment.Clinical treatment usually use combined therapy included combined oral and topical,integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine.The treatment program that oral tanshinone capsules,minocycline combined with topical fusidic acid cream obtained a satisfactory results.Therefore,in order to study the correlation between IL-17,IL-18,IFN-? and acne,we chose the treatment that oral tanshinone capsules,minocycline combined with topical fusidic acid cream for patients with moderate to severe acne.The levels of IL-17,IL-18 and IFN-? in peripheral blood were measured before and after treatment,and the relationship between these cytokines and moderate to severe acne was discussed.Methods:1.Thirty patients with moderate to severe acne were selected as the experimental group and 20 healthy volunteers were selected as the control group.2.The experimental group received tanshinone capsules(specifications: 250 mg ×24 tablets,Hebei Xinglong Xi Li Pharmaceutical)1.0g,3 times a day orally;minocaine Hydrochloride Capsules capsules(specifications: 50 mg × 20 tablets,Wyeth Pharmaceutical Co.,Ltd.)50mg,2 times a day orally;fusidic acid cream(specifications:5g: 0.1g,Hong Kong,Australia and the United States pharmaceutical factory),the amount of 2 times a day applied to the affected area,continuous treatment for 8 weeks.The control group did not do any treatment.3.We respectively took fasting venous blood 3ml from the control group,the experimental group before and after treatment in the morning,centrifuged and took the serum,saved at-20 ?.4.The serum values of IL-17,IL-18 and IFN-? were measured with IL-17,IL-18 and IFN-? enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)kit(Irene Reed Biotechnology Co.,Ltd.).Results:1.The combined therapy of oral Tanshinone,minocycline and topical fusidic acid cream is safe and effective.The effective rate is 90%.2.The serum level of IL-17: control group is(9.78±1.04)pg/ml,experimental group before treatment is(15.27±3.79)pg/ml,after treatment is(10.88±1.42)pg/ml.The serum level of IL-17 in the experimental group after treatment was significantly lower than before treatment(P < 0.05),before and after treatment were higher than control group(P < 0.05).3.The serum level of IL-18 : control group is(14.65±2.17)pg/ml,experimental group before treatment is(21.87±5.93)pg/ml,after treatment is(15.91±4.81)pg/ml.The serum level of IL-18 in the experiment group after treatment was significantly lower than before treatment group(P < 0.05).The experimental group after treatment compared with control group didn't have significant difference(P >0.05).4.The serum level of IFN-?: control group is(889.79±197.82)pg/ml,before the treatment group is(504.91±186.70)pg/ml,after treatment is(767.74±200.45)pg/ml.The serum level IFN-? of the experiment group after treatment was significantly higher than that of before treatment group(P < 0.05).The experiment group aftertreatment were lower than control group(P < 0.05).Conclusion:1.The combined therapy of oral Tanshinone,minocycline and topical fusidic acid cream is effective and less adverse reaction for moderate to severe acne.2.The serum levels of IL-17 and IL-18 in patients with moderate to severe acne are higher than that of healthy people.The serum levels of IFN-? in patients is lower than that healthy people.3.After 8 weeks of combined anti-inflammatory treatment with traditional Chinese and western medicine,patients got better and the serum levels of IL-17,IL-18 were reduced,the serum level of IFN-? was increased.
