Purpose: The screen of many electronic products can send out blue light,this experiment is to study the influence of the blu-ray to Macular pigment density(Macular pigment optical density,MPOD)and the protective effect of blue light filter.Methods: We selected 60 eyes of 30 people who study or teach in He U niversity,Shenyang from September to December 2016,17 men and 13 women,the age from 18 to 40.Inclusion criteria:(1)All of the participators is older than18;(2)Their uncorrected visual acuity is greater than 1.0 when using Snellen e ye chart(E eye chart).Exclusion criteria:(1)history of smoking;(2)abnormal diet(overeating or eating disorders);(3)suffered from retinal diseases,cataract,glauco ma and other diseases that can influence the measurement of macular pigment de nsity(4)There are systemic diseases that affect the pigment content,such as albinism.Experiment materials: macular pigment density measuring instrument,eyeQ blue light filter,iPad.Experimental conditions:(1)test with naked eye;(2)500 lux f or laboratory illumination;(3)change iPad brightness to 50%;(4)reading distance is40 ~ 50 cm(40 ~ 50 cm is optimum distance);(5)watching iPad for 1 hour;(6)watching the same picture in iPad;(7)everyone has a normal diet,no outdo or activities,no additional nutritional supplements intake that affect the retinal pigment and don't use other video terminal products.Methods: all participators underwent a unified eye exams,1.The uncorrected vision and corrected vision;2.The slit lamp examination to exclude the corneal disease,lens diseases and other opacity of refractive media;3.Funduscopy,exclude retinopathies.All exams are perform ed by the same physician.Control group: Checking the Macular pigment density on early morning and one hour after using iPad in the first day.Experimental group: Checking the same participators' Macular pigment density on early mornin g and one hour after using iPad with eyeQ in the second day.Statistical analysi s: Using SPSS20.0 statistical software for statistical analysis.T-test and analysis of variance were used.P < 0.05 is statistically significant.Results: There was significan t difference in MPOD between the first early morning and one hour using iPad(P < 0.01);There was no significant difference in MPOD between the second early mor ning and one hour using iPad with eyeQ.(P > 0.05);There was no significant d ifference in MPOD between the first early morning and the second early mornin g(P > 0.05).Conclusion: This study shows that the iPad screen can make the macular pigmen t density decreased in a certain period of time,The MPOD has basically restor ed in second day morning;the eyeQ has protective effect,people should wear blue light filter when long-term using electronic product.
