Objective To analyze related factors affecting the prognosis and healing of permanent incisors with horizontal root fracture. Methods Clinical data about permanent incisors with horizontal root fracture conservatively treated in Anhui province stomatological hospital during 2012 to 2016 were collected and the follow-up period was not shorter than 3 months. The following information including fracture location, root development, treatment delay, fixation length and type of healing was recorded. The chi-square test was used to explore related factors influencing the prognosis outcome. Results 30 patients with 37 permanent incisors with horizontal root fracture were enrolled in the present study with the follow-up period being 3 to 34 months.33 of the37 teeth(89.19%)exhibited healing of the root fractures. For each healing type,13 teeth(35.14%)showed healing with calcified tissue,12 teeth(32.43%)showed healing with interposition of connective tissue,8 teeth(21.62%)showed healing with interposition of connective tissue and bone, and 4 teeth(10.81%)showed healing with interposition of granulation tissue without healing.Analysis of various clinical factors associated with fracture healing outcome showed that fracture location, root development, treatment delay, fixation length were not related to the healing rate. Conclusion The prognosis of conservative treatment of permanent incisors with horizontal root fracture is good. There are no evidence showing that the fracture location, root development, treatment delay, fixation length were related to the healing rate.
