Objectives:In this research, one group of children patients received combination of modified Qingying Tang decoction and conventional therapeutic approaches in modern medicine for Kawasaki disease of qi-nutrient blazing pattern, and their clinical examination data and symptoms were recorded.Comparative analysis was carried out between the combination therapy group and another group receiving western medicine therapy only, aiming at demonstrating the clinical efficacy and safety of Chinese-Western integrative therapy in the treatment of Kawasaki disease, investigating the advantages and benefits of integration of Chinese-Western medicine in curing Kawasaki disease in infants and children and provide clinical trial records as reference to consequently improve the therapeutic strategies of Kawasaki disease. Methods:A total of 60 Kawasaki disease patients who met the diagnostic criteria in both Chinese and Western medicine and the inclusion criteria in this study were randomly assigned to two groups, namely the treatment group and the control group,30 in each. Both groups were given ?-globulin(iv.gtt,2 g/(kg · d)in 10-12 h)in the acute phase(5-9th day of fever).Aspirin was given thrice a day orally at 60 mg/(kg·d),after the fever faded, the dose was cut to 5 mg/(kg·d),once a day.Modifed Qingying Tang decoction was simultaneously given orally to the treatment group for 7 days.White blood cells count,C-reactive protein, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, blood platelets count and symptom score were recorded before and after the therapy.Statistical analysis was conducted by SPSS 21.0 for comparative study on the data of clinical examinations and symptom scores.P<0.05 signifies statistical significance and P<0.01 symbolizes significarnt difference.Results:1.Comparison of symptom:the differences between the major symptom scores before and after the therapy were significant in both groups(P<0.01),suggesting that the major symptoms were alleviated in both groups. For symptom scoring of eye redness, throat congestion, rash and stiffness of limbs, the differences of the scores between both groups were statistically significant(P<0.05),indicating that the above symptoms were better alleviated in the treatment group than the control group. The difference of reducing fever time between both groups were statistically significant(P<0.05),showing that the treatment group had an advantage on reducing fever time than the control group.2.Clinical examination parameters:after the therapy, both groups showed improvement as demonstrated by white blood cells count,C-reactive protein, erythrocyte sedimentation rate and blood platelets count, while the improvement was more significant in the treatment group(P<0.01).3.Comparison on the efficacy:the total responsive rates were 93.33%and 70.00%in the treatment group and the control group, respectively. On the clinical efficacy of the treatment group is better than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Combination of modified Qingying Tang decoction and conventional western medical therapy was effective in improving inflammation-related markers, alleviating symptoms in patients of Kawasaki disease of qi-nutrient blazing pattern. The total efficacy in the treatment group was better compared to the control group.
