Clinical Effect Of The Health Guidance Associated With The Chinese Medicine In Treating The Phlegm-damp Type Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

ObjectiveTo investigate the effect and mechanism of health guidance associated with the strengthening spleen and removing phlegm decoration in treating obese women with polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS),which could be the novel method for treating PCOS.Methods1.The research progress on the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)and the western medicine in treating the PCOS was researched by the method of paper review.2.60 patients with PCOS from the department of gynecology in the Guangdong second TCM hospital since October 2013 from December 2015 were collected as the participants.And they were divided into control group and observation group by the random number generator,and there were 30 patients in each group.Patients in control group were given the conventional western medication while patients in observation group were treated with the Donangdaotan decoration,the strengthening spleen and removing phlegm decoration,as well as the health guidance including the formula for weight control and the exercise preseription.The improvement of the clinical symptoms and signs were observed and recorded with the situation on the menstruation,acne,polytrichia,basal body temperature(BBT),body mass index(BMI).The serum concentrations of the follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH),Luteinizing hormone(LH),testosterone(T),insulin-like growth factor(IGF)-1 were tested by euzyme linked inmmunosorbent assay(ELISA).Results1.There were 30 patients in the observation group and the average age was 28.70±5.08 years old.And there were 30 patients in the control group and the average age was 28.13 ± 5.09 years old.It was comparable because there was no difference between two groups on the general data(P>0.05).2.After therapies,the total effective cases in the observation group were 28 patients while there were just 2 inefficient cases,and the total effective rate was 93.33%.However,the total effective cases were 22 patients in the control one while there were 8 inefficient cases,and the total effective rate wa.s 73.33%.So there was the difference between the control group and observation group(P<0.05).3.Before treatment,there was no difference on the BMI between two group(P>0.05),so there was the comparability.After medication,the BMI in the observation group was obviously less than the control group,and there was the difference(P<0.05).The difference of BMI before and after the treatment in the observation group was much more than the control one,and there was the difference(P<0.05).4.Before treatment,there was no difference on the LH between two group(P>0.05),so there was the comparability.After medication,the LH in the observation group was obviously less than the control group,and there wa.s the difference(P<0.05).The difference of LH before and after the treatment in the observation group was much more than the control one,and there was the difference(P<0.05).5.Before treatment,there was no difference on the FSH between two group(P>0.05),so there was the comparability.After medication,the FSH in the observation group was obviously less than the control group,and there was the difference(P<0.05).The difference of FSH before and after the treatment in the observation group was much more than the control one,and there was the difference(P<0.05).6.Before treatment,there was no difference on the T between two group(P>0.05),so there was the comparability.After medication,the T in the observation group was obviously less than the control group,and there was the difference(P<0.05).The difference of T before and after the treatment in the observation group was much more than the control one,and there was the difference(P<0.05).7.Before treatment,there was no difference on the IGF-I between two group(P>0.05),so there was the comparability.After medication,the LH in the observation group was obviously less than the control group,and there was the difference(P<0.05).The difference of IGF-I before and after the treatment in the observation group was much more than the control one,and there was the difference(P<0.05).ConclusionThe health guidance combined with the Duonangdaotang decoration could be used to treat with PCOS,which has significant curative effect and could improve the major manifestations including the situation on the menstruation,acne and polytrichia.Meanwhile,it also could decrease the BMI and it was helpful for controlling the obesity.Moreover,not only could it remarkably decrease the concentrations of T,FSH and LH,but it could also decrease the serum concentration of the IGF-?of the PCOS patients.Therefore,the mechanism of the health guidance combined with the Duonangdaotang decoration may be related to regulate the disorders on the androgen and insulin.
