The Clinical Efficacy And Summary Of Dr. DUAN QU's Experience In The TCM Treatment Of Chloasma

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of DR.DUANQU's TCM treatment of chloasma and summarise his experience.Methods:A total of 62 patients (with 2 drop-outs) with chloasma were recruited from The Teaching Hospital of Chengdu University of TCM, cosmetology department from October 2014 to October 2015. Patients were diagnosed and given treatment by DR.DUANQU's The size and color of the skin lesions were recorded during subsequent visits, and the treatment efficacy were analysed and evaluated.Results: The total efficacy of 62 patients after the first course of treatment is 86.7%, with 12.9% fully recovered. Out of the 25 patients diagnosed with hepatic qi stagnation syndrome,3 patients fully recovered. The treatment was most effective for 5 patients, effective for 12 patients, ineffective for 5 patients, having a total efficacy of 80.0%. Out of the 14 patients diagnosed with kidney yin-deficiency syndrome,1 patient fully recovered. The treatment was most effective for 3 patients, effective for 9 patients, ineffective for 1 patients having a total efficacy of 92.9%. Out of the 21 patients diagnosed with spleen deficiency and dampness syndrome,4 patients fully recovered. The treatment was most effective for 9 patients, effective for 6 patients, ineffective for 2 patients, having a total efficacy of 90.5%.Conclusion:Based on TCM syndrome differentiation concept, the etiology and pathogenesis of chloasma was identified, and a suitable treatment plan was formulated. The pursue of beauty together with an established efficacy of TCM treatment contributes to the gaining popularity of TCM cosmetology, which is of clinical significance.
