Objective:To evaluate the differences of effect on chronic stable angina pectoris treating by acupuncture with acupoint, non-acupoint and waiting list group; To explore the correlation between acupuncture efficacy and patient's pre-treatment expectationMethods:Using a design of multi-center, randomized controlled clinical trial, the patients met the inclusion criteria were divided into groups via central randomization as acupoint group(group A), non-acpoint group(group B) and waiting list group(group C). All groups were treated with the same basic treatment. Both acupoints and non-acupoints were selected in two sides and used electroacupuncture after de-qi. The treatment was 30 minutes a time and three times a week, in total of twelve times in four weeks. The baseline and treatment period in the study both have four weeks. The outcomes were the frequency of angina pectoris, proportion of therapeutic responders, VAS score, S AQ score, Patients' global assessments of acupuncture efficacy and the patient's pre-treatment expectation.Results:1. The study recruited 303 patients met the inclusion criteria.92 patients in group A,99 patients in group B and 94 patients in group C. Baseline data was balanced between three groups.2. After acupuncture treatment, there were statistical differences in the frequency of angina, VAS score, the total SAQ score compared with the beginning in the group A and B(P< 0.05). In the group C, there was statistical difference in the frequency of angina compared with the beginning (P<0.05)3. There were statistical differences in the frequency of angina, proportion of therapeutic responders, VAS score, SAQ score and Patients' global assessments of acupuncture efficacy in group A compared with the group B and C (P<0.05).There were statistical differences in the frequency of angina and SAQ score in group B compared with the group C (P<0.05)4. In the same group, there was no significant difference in the proportion of therapeutic responders of the patients with different expectation levels (P> 0.05). In the same expectation level, there was statistical difference in the proportion of therapeutic responders in group A compared with the group B (P< 0.05)Conclusion:1. Acupuncture treating chronic stable angina pectoris is efficacy and safety. It can significantly reduce the frequency and pain degree of angina and improve the patient's quality of life. Acupuncture has certain advantages compared with the simple basic medicine treatment.2. The effect of clinical outcomes in the acpoint group is better than that in the non-acupoint and waiting list group. The effect of frequency of angina and SAQ scores in the non-acupoint group is better than that in the waiting list group.3. There is no significant difference in acupuncture efficacy of the patients with different expectation levels in the same groups, which indicates that there is no correlation between patient's pre-treatment expectation and acupuncture efficacy.4. The acupuncture efficacy of acupoint of the patients with same expectation levels is superior to the non-acupoint, which indicates that acupoint is the key to the acupuncture efficacy and acupoint has the specific effect.
