Objective:to identify an noninvasive, effective, simple and extensively applicable adjuvant therapeutic method for clinical necrotizing lymphadenitis patient in early fever by means of observing the relief of fever symptom of necrotizing lymphadenitis patient and pain alleviation as well as the affect on peripheral white blood cell count through acupoint massage.Method:86 necrotizing lymphadenitis patients with fever symptom are selected and randomly separated into experimental group and control group, each group having 43 subjects. The patients with fever in both groups are treated by necrotizing lymphadenitis nursing routine. For control group, the patients are treated with conventional nursing care. For experimental group,in addition to conventional nurse, the patients will be evaluated for their basic conditions and informed of the experimental objectives and procedures and instructed to sign the Consent Form for medical advice of "acupoint massage".Major acupuncture points and adjunct acupuncture points will be pinpointed according to dialectical nursing for 2 minutes message each and twice per day by finger-pressing.The axillary temperatures of both groups' patients will be recorded at an interval of 1h,2h,4h,6h and 8h before and after intervention for 6 consecutive days;the visual analogue scale(VAS)will be applied to evaluate the pain score once per day for 6 consecutive days;the peripheral white blood cell count on the third days before and after intervention and on the sixth days after intervention will be measured.Data collected at the end of the course of treatment is subject to statistical processing. Results:the basic information about the two groups' patients include names, sex, age, native place, occupation, education background, marital status, treatment, other cardiovascular risks and factors with no statistical difference through comparison(P>0.05).The diseased region and extent, body temperature, pain degree, peripheral white blood cell count, fever type and complication of patients in both groups prior to treatment show no statistical difference through comparison(P>0.05),both groups are comparable to each other on this account. The pyretolytic time, pain degree and peripheral white blood cell count significance of patients in experimental group and control group after treatment are less than 0.05(P<0.05),representing statistical significance from the comparative differences between the two groups. Conclusion:Acupoint massage is conducive to the decrease of body temperature of necrotizing lymphadenitis patient with fever with shortened pyretolytic time thereby to save more hospitalization expenses and medical resource.Acupoint massage is conducive to the increase of peripheral white blood cell count of necrotizing lymphadenitis patient and pain alleviation thereby to improve patient's comfort level, concretize the people-oriented nursing concept and ease patient's anxiety and depression.Unlike medication or acupuncture, the acupoint massage is simple, painless without side effect and safer and more effective. It can be easily accepted by patient with high compliance.
