Objectives:To study the expression of CD151 and matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9)in pancreatic carcinoma and their relationship.Their relationship with clinicopathologic factors were analysed and their clinical significances were evaluated. Methods:The expression of CD151 and matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9)were detected by immunohistochemical technique in 45 cases of pancreatic carcinoma and 10 cases of non-tumor pancreatic tissues. The relationship between their expression and the clinical pathological characteristics were also analyzed statistically.Results:1.The positive expression rates of CD151 were 51.1%(23/45),showing a significant difference between pancreatic carcinoma and non-tumor pancreatic tissues(p<0.05).The expression of CD151 was significantly associated with lymphatic metastasis and TNM staging, but was not associated with age, gender, histological grade, tumor site and tumor size.2.The positive expression rates of MMP-9 were 64.4%(29/45),showing a significant difference between pancreatic carcinoma and non-tumor pancreatic tissues(p<0.05).The expression of MMP-9 was significantly associated with lymphatic metastasis and TNM staging, but was not associated with age, gender, histological grade, tumor site and tumor size.3.The expression of CD151,MMP-9 was positively associated in pancreatic carcinoma(p<0.05).Conclusions:1.There are overexpressions of CD151 in pancreatic carcinoma, showing a significant difference between pancreatic carcinoma and non-tumor pancreatic tissues.Expressions of CD151 was associated with lymphatic metastasis and TNM staging.2.There are overexpressions of MMP-9 in pancreatic carcinoma, showing a significant difference between pancreatic carcinoma and non-tumor pancreatic tissues.Expressions of MMP-9 was associated with lymphatic metastasis and TNM staging.3.The expression of CD151,MMP-9 were positively associated in pancreatic carcinoma, their expressions may contribute to the development and metastase of pancreatic carcinoma.
