Research One: Study on fatigue and related factors in type 2 diabetic patientsObjective1. To test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory-20(MFI-20) in type 2 diabetic patients.2. To investigate the status and characteristics of fatigue in T2 DM patients and analyze its related factors.Methods211 cases of T2 DM patients were investigated by using MFI-20 and the VT dimension in the SF-36 scale. T test, one-way AVOVA and multiple linear regression analysis were used to analyze the related factors of fatigue.Results1. The MFI-20 scale contains 20 entries, three dimensions which are physical, psychological and cognitive. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the whole scale and each dimension is above 0.85. The correlation coefficient r between the MFI-20 and the VT dimension is-0.803(P<0.01).2. The fatigue incidence of participants was 63.5%, the score of MFI-20 was(54.10±15.63), and(59.22±23.56) in VT which was significant lower than norm(70.10±16.80), P<0.01.3. Among these three dimensions, the physical fatigue got the highest score(2.99±1.03), followed by psychological fatigue(2.67±0.87).4. One-way AVOVA showed that gender, age, educational level, economic conditions, duration, complications, exercise, 2h PBG and rest were closely related to fatigue(P<0.05).5. Multiple linear regression analysis extracted five factors: exercise, 2h PBG, rest, cerebrovascular complication and the number of complications.Conclusions1. The Chinese version MFI-20 has a good reliability and validity in T2 DM patients.2. The fatigue symptoms of T2 DM patients main performance on physical and psychological.3. Exercise and rest were protective factors of fatigue, so we could choose appropriate intervention measures from these to alleviate fatigue of T2 DM patients.Research Two: The effect of an aerobic walking intervention on fatigue in type 2diabetic patientsObjective This part was mainly to explore the effect of aerobic walking on fatigue in T2 DM patients. Methods Sixty-six T2 DM patients were allocate to control(n=33) and intervention group(n=33). Participants in the intervention group were given a 12-week aerobic walking program. At same time, the control group participants accepted conventional diabetes education only. All data were analyzed by using SPSS18.0.Results1. After the study, the MFI-20 scale's score of intervention group was significantly decreased and lower than the control group patients'(P<0.05), while the control group was not changed obviously(P>0.05).2. As for three dimensions in the MFI-20 scale, the score of physical and psychological fatigue of intervention group were significantly lower than before(P<0.05), but no statistical significant at cognitive dimension(P>0.05).3. The blood glucose level were dropped significantly in these two groups, and the differences between groups also had statistical significant(P<0.05).4. The blood pressure in these two groups was decreased but not obvious. The differences between these two groups also had no statistical significant(P>0.05).Conclusions1. Aerobic walking can effectively control patients' blood glucose levels.2. Aerobic walking can effectively alleviate the diabetic related fatigue symptoms.3. The effect of walking on blood pressure and cognitive fatigue needs further research.
