Intracranial pressure(ICP) monitoring is a routine nursing method for nursing patients in Department of neurosurgery and the development of new monitoring equipment is always one of the research hotspots. Benefiting from the development of the sensors and the wireless technology, monitoring equipment are becoming miniature, minimally invasive, capable of monitoring multi parameter and wireless controlled. This paper focuses on the research and development of an ICP monitoring system based on wireless network, which can continuously measure the patient's intracranial pressure and temperature, send real-time monitoring data to PC through the wireless network and monitoring and management of intracranial pressure by monitoring software. Therefore, status of the patients' ICP is able to be monitored by medical staff remotely in the nurse station. The main research contents and innovations of this paper:(1) Hardware designing of the monitoring system, including manufacturing of the monitoring probe with the functions of ICP and temperature measurement, designing circuit of the ICP monitor and wireless communication module.(2) Software designing of the monitoring system, including development of the embedded software of ICP monitor based on ?C/OS-? to realize the processing and displaying the intracranial pressure and temperature, exceeding threshold alarm, designing the software of wireless communication module to realize the establishment of wireless network and data communication and designing the monitoring software for simultaneous monitoring of multiple patients.(3) Calibration of the ICP monitoring probe is completed, and the temperature effect of the pressure sensor was well compensated.(4) Animal experiment was carried out to test the system. Animal ICP data was recorded simultaneously by homemade ICP monitor and Codman monitor. The results of two groups of experiments were consistent, which verified the accuracy of the measurement results of homemade ICP monitor.
