Pathological Characteristics And Survival Analysis Of 203 Cases Of Left And Right Colon Cancer

Objective According to the location of colon cancer, it can be divided into the left side colon cancer(LSCC) and right side colon cancer(RSCC), which are also known as distal colon cancer and proximal colon cancer. In this study, we analyze the clinical manifestations of LSCC and RSCC, tumor stage, pathological features and prognosis, in the hope of providing certain reference for clinical.Methods Retrospective analysis of 203 cases colon cancer patients of our hospital from 2010 to 2013, 122 cases of LSCC and 81 cases of RSCC, all patients are hospitalized patients, make correlation analysis to the age, gender, clinical manifestation, pathological feature, tumor stage.Results Most of colon cancer patients are over 60 years old, in which LSCC is more likely to occur in the elderly group. There was no statistically significant difference in sex distribution between patients with LSCC and RSCC(P>0.05).Compared with the LSCC, the pathological types of RSCC is relatively low differentiated, mainly composed of poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma and its transfer ability is more aggressive and stronger. Survival time in the selected cases were as follows: the median survival time of all patients was 52 months, and the average survival time was 44.981 months( SE=197.9; 95CI% =41.103-48.860).Among them, the mean survival time of LSCC was 50.06 months, statistically significantly compared with the mean survival time(36.63 months) of RSCC(log rank P = 0.001).The 1 year,3years,5 years survival rates about LSCC and RSCC were as follows:85.2%vs72.8%,66.2%vs46.9%,58.3%vs 25.3%(log rank P =0.001).The results of the multivariate analysis of survival prognosis showed that degree of differentiation, N staging and distant metasatasis are independent risk factors of colon cancer.Conclusions There are different clinical characteristics and prognosis between half colon cancer. Compared with LSCC, RSCC has more atypical clinical manifestation, lower degree of differentiation,stronger invasive and metastatic ability.The average survial time,1 year,3 years,5 years survial rates of LSCC were better than RSCC. Degree of differentiation, N staging and distant metasatasis are independent risk factors of colon cancer.
