Objective To evaluate the features of CT images of maxillofacial fractures in different time windows. Methods The conventional CT features of 159 patients and 342 sites of maxillofacial factures were analyzed retrospectively. Conventional CT scanning was performed in all159 patients in 8 weeks, 8-12 and 12-16 weeks and 16 weeks later after fracture. Results Skeletal change is the best indicator of imaging examination. This change was significant for juveniles(age less than 18 years old) is in the 4-8 weeks after fracture, and for adults(age more than 18 years old) is in the 8-12 weeks after fracture. Conclusion The time window characteristics of maxillofacial fractures can be reflected in the follow-up radiological examination. Therefore, the follow-up examination time of the juveniles(age less than 18 years old) in the fifth week is significance, for adults(age more than 18 years old) is in the ninth weeks.
