Central nervous system diseases, such as brain tumor, Alzheimer's disease (AD) and mild cognitive impairment (MCI), are common diseases which lower human's survival rate and quality of life. Traditional MRI provides three-dimensional anatomical images of human organs and tissues clearly, and is one of the main imaging diagnostic methods to assess abnormal brain leision. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy, a beneficial supplement to MRI, offers important infomation of matabolites'values before the structual changes. MRS is of great importance in neurological disease's early diagnosis and classification. With the increasing use of MRS in the clinical diagnosis, the construction of MRI/MRS data sharing and auxiliry diagnosis platform gains wide attention. The database is built using MySQL to store and manage the medical data including basic information, patients'MRI and MRS in brain tumor, AD or MCI. Java is used to establish the knowledge base system based on MRS used in central nervous system diseases. The system includes five modules which are the query and management of patients' records, report sheet, MRI's data, MRS' data, and management of users' information. In the system, physicians, researchers and admonistrators have different privileges to query patients' information, view and download MRI and related attribute tag, read and download MRS quantified files, as well as get the result of MRS spatial visualization. The establishment of the system provides a valuable tool on clinical dignosis and scientific research, as well as promoting the process of remote data sharing and automatic diagnosis. As research continues, more functions of the system will be developed to give more effective support on diagnosis and treatment of neurological diseases.
