Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of the Modified wuziyanzong prescription on treating frequent urination disease of kidney qi deficiency and to provide a new method for treating this disease.Methods: Sixty patients falling ill with frequent urination disease and conforming to the standards were randomly divided into treatment group and control group with 30 cases in each. on the basis of general treatment, patients in treatment group were given the Modified wuziyanzong prescription,one dose a day; Patients in control group were given Tolterodine tartrate tablets 2mg,twice per day.28 days of treatment. to observe changes of score of clinical symptoms?the lower urinary tract symptoms score?24h micturition frequency for average?volume voided per micturition and adverse reaction.Results: 1.In the comparison of individual symptoms scores of two groups, the treatment group was superior to control group but not significant in improving the frequency of urination(P<0.05),and it was significantly better than control group in improving the urgent urination?odynuria?cold chills?mental fatigue?weak waist and terminal dribbling(P< 0.01);2.The treatment group was markedly superior to control group(P<0.01) with the total effective rate was 90.00% while the control group was 53.33% in the comparison of TCM symptoms curative effect;3.The treatment group was significantly superior to the control group in improving the lower urinary tract symptoms score?24h micturition frequency for average?volume voided per micturition after treatment(P<0.01);4.Treatment group was superior to control group(P<0.05) with the total effective rate was 86.67% while the control group was 66.67%.Conclusion: The Modified wuziyanzong prescription, whose clinical curative effect is superior to routine western medicine, can significantly improve symptoms of patients suffering form frequent urination disease of kidney qi deficiency, coupled with its high safety, the Modified wuziyanzong prescription can be used as a optimized scheme to treat the frequent urination disease of kidney qi deficiency.
