Objective: To investigate percutaneous coronary intervention therapy of coronary total occlusion can improve the cardiac function of patients. Methods : This study included 140 patients who were hospitalized in Department of Cardiology in the First Affiliated Hospital of University of South China June 2014 to June 2015, They were diagnosed coronary atherosclerotic heart disease. CTO patients and NCTO patients were 70 patients, in 70 patients of CTO patients, 40 patients received PCI treatment, 30 patients received standard drug therapy. CTO-PCI patients were operated successed by one operator. Selected patients' age, gender, history of hypertension, history of diabetes, hyperlipidemia history, smoking history recorded. Recorded that PCI to open every vascular lesions the spent of average operation time,X-ray exposure volume, contrast agent dosage and the costs of treatment; then, The CTO patients were followed up for 6 months, Assessmenting the cardiac function in CTO-PCI group, and at the same time, Comparing the changes on LVEF and LVEDD before and after follow-up by UCG examination.Results:1. In CTO-PCI patients, when opening each lesion, The spent for the average operation time; the average amount of contrast agent; the average X-ray exposure and the average cost of treatment were more than NCTO-PCI patients. The difference was statistically significant(p < 0.05).2. The mean LVEF value of CTO-PCI group was significantly increased 6 months after operation than before operation. The mean LVEDD value was significantly reduced. The difference was statistically significant(p < 0.05). In CTO-NPCI group, The mean LVEF value and The mean LVEDD value were no obvious change. The difference was no statistically significant(p > 0.05).3. In CTO-PCI group, the patients who were successfully followed up, The cardiac function of the majority of patients were significantly improved after 6 months of operation. The difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).Conclusions:Percutaneous coronary intervention therapy for chronic total occlusion can improve the cardiac function of patients.
