Objective:To explore the clinical efficacy of Sizisan acupoint application, which is used to dilute sputum of stroke-associated pneumonia, aiming to supply reference to the clinical therapy. Methods:Acute cerebral apoplexy patients, who were suffer from stroke-associated pneumonia and hospitalized in traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Guangdong Province during July 2014 to July,2015, were enrolled. According to the registration order, patients were randomly divided into the control group and the treatment group, with 30 patients in each group. Patients in the control group were treated with routine medical treatment, while those in the treatment group received acupoint application with Sizisan in addition. The clinical indexes, comprised of sputum volume, sputum density, body temperature, and chest radiograph, the laboratory indexes, including proealcitonin (PCt), numeration of leukocyte, C-reaction protein (CRP), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score, as well as the safty after the surgery were observed as the main indicators. All data were collected and analyzed by SPASS 18.0 statistical software, and significantly difference was defined when P< 0.05.Results:There was no significant difference in the sputum volume and sputum density before treatment between the two groups. After received the treatment for 14 days, trial group, with obvious lower sputum volume (15.85+1.83) and diluting sputum density, was showed superior to the control group (20.80+3.11, P< 0.05). However, PCt, numeration of leukocyte, CRP, NIHSS score had no obvious changes, showed no statistical difference in two groups. In the aspect of body temperature decreased, treatment group was significantly better than the control group after 7 days (P< 0.05). And In the treatment group, the total effective rate was 90.0%, which was superior to 66.7% in the control group. No adverse events associated with the Sizisan acupoint application were observed during this study. Conclusion:Acupoint application with Sizisan has good clinical efficacy in the supplementary treatment of stroke-associated pneumonia, and thus is worth popularizing clinically.
