Objective: To compare the curative efficacy of a qi-absorption acupuncture method with conventional acupuncture in treating dry eye syndrome, and confirm the correctness of the method. Methods: All 60 patients(120 eyes)were diagnosed with dry eye syndromes in the Department of Acupuncture and Ophthalmology of XX Hospital from February 2014 to January 2016.According to the different treatment methods,we randomly allocated to a qi-absorption group of 18 cases(36 eyes)as group A,a conventional group of 19 cases(38 eyes)as group B and a control group of 16 cases(32eyes)as group C.In group A,we applied a qi-absorption needling technique to the Fengchi, other acupoints were applied with a uniform reinforcing-reducing twisting technique. In group B,the acupoints were same as group A,all acupoints were applied with a uniform reinforcing-reducing twisting technique. The group A and group B were treated once a day, seven days for a session of treatment and continuous treatment for 4 sessions. The control group C were applied artificial tears eye drops in treatment, four times a day, according to the patient specific symptoms, increase or decrease as appropriate, continuous used for 30 days. Those three groups were followed-up to be observed index changes such as BUT(breakup time of tear film),SIt(Schirmer I test),FL(fluorescien),VAS(Visual Analogue Scale Score),clinical symptom score and dry integral. All patients were under their permission and could fitted into the group standard, tolerated acupuncture threat.Using SPSS20.0 for data processing, and with mean ± standard deviation to express the measurement data.Numeration data were used with x2test;using measures data analysis of variance to compare the pretherapy measurement data of three groups,LSD-t test pairwise comparisons;the difference variables of Pretherapy and post-treatment in each group analysis by paired t test;using non parametric rank sum test to Compare with the curative effect of three groups;P <0.05 was considered statistically significant evaluation of the parameter changes, appraise the value of each parameter.Results:1.In the post-treatment of the three groups, the values of SIt,BUT were increased, which compared with pretherapy. The group A and B were increased significantly and had significant difference(P<0.05).The values of A and B were higher than group C,the difference has significant(P<0.05);the SIt values of A were higher than B,had significant difference(P<0.05).2.The clinical symptom score and VAS of the three groups were lower than pretherapy, the values of A and B were significantly lower than pretherapy, and the difference were significant(P<0.05).The values of A and B were lower than C,and the difference were significant(P<0.05);the total score,VSA score of group A were lower than B,and the difference were significant(P<0.05).3.The FL values of the three groups were lower than pretherapy, the values of A and B were significantly lower than pretherapy, and had significant difference(P<0.05).The values of A and B were lower than C,and the difference were significant(P<0.05);the FL score and dry integral of A were lower than B,but the difference were not significant(P<0.05).4.Total effective rate of group A was 91.7%,higher than 84.3% of group B and 68.7% of group C,the difference had statistical meaning(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.The curative effect of qi-absorption needling technique is significant superior than conventional acupuncture treatment. This method promote lacrimal secretion and improve the repair of corneal epithelium and reduce ocular symptom.2.This technique has remarkable curative effect and can produce local needling sensation which go along with the Gallbladder Meridian of foot-Shaoyang circulation needling sensation to make the eyelids and eye warm and pains, and fully proved the "qi extending affected parts" has clinical significance.
