Background and purposein recent years found that statins have other than lowering pleiotropic effects, including anti-inflammatory, protect endothelial, neural protection, these pleiotropic effects are more and more researchers use neurological diseases clinical prevention and treatment. But in subarachnoid hemorrhage(SAH) after whether the routine use of statin drugs is still controversial. This study focused on reducing subarachnoid hemorrhage vasospasm, delayed cerebral ischemia and the risk of rebleeding in the role of statins in.MethodsWeb of science, Ovid, Pumed and China National Knowledge were searched for randomized, controlled trials relating to the use of statins in SAH. By two independent reviewers to assess eligibility articles, data extraction and quality of results. Outcomes were vasospasm, delayed cerebral ischemia incidence of rebleeding.Statistical analysis was performed using ReVMan5.3.ResultsA total of 12 randomized controlled trials involving 1926 patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage were selected, of which 838 patients taking statin drugs,1088 patients taking a placebo as a control. A meta-analysis showed that: after the incidence of vasospasm after subarachnoid hemorrhage in the statin group had asignificant decrease [OR = 0.68; 95% CI(0.51,0.90)], subgroup analysis of high-dose statin group also had reduced vasospasm role incidence [OR = 0.63; 95% CI(0.41,0.96)], and the differences between the statin dose group and normal control group was not statistically significant. Use after subarachnoid hemorrhage statin drugs on the incidence of delayed cerebral ischemia [OR = 0.87; 95% CI(0.64,1.16)],the incidence of rebleeding [OR = 1.56; 95% CI(0.70,3.47)] between the placebo group and the difference was not statistically significant.ConclusionUse of high doses of statins can reduce the incidence of subarachnoid hemorrhage vasospasm. Not found statin drugs can reduce the incidence of subarachnoid hemorrhage after delayed cerebral ischemic injury, and did not find the use of after subarachnoid hemorrhage statins can increase the risk of rebleeding. The inclusion of a limited number of studies, but also need more targeted large-scale clinical trials to confirm.
