Objective: To study the influence factors of neurological prognosis in traumatic central cord syndrome. Methods: The clinical data of 53 patients(39 males and 14 females)with a traumatic central cord syndrome treated in our hospital between May 2010 and June 2014 were analyzed retrospectively, all of these patients received the surgical operation treatment. We recorded their ASIA motor scores at admission and at the end of follow up in sequence, and calculate their average final total improvement rate.Using the SPSS19.0 software to evaluate the factors include the operation timing, wounded hands intrinsic muscle myodynamia after injury,Upper limb indicatio morbi after injury effect on the neurological prognosis of patients with traumatic central cord syndrome. Results: The average ASIA motor scores of traumatic central cord syndrome patients in different groups at the end of follow up had a significant improvement than their average ASIA motor scores at admission, the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05).No statistically significant difference in neurologic outcome using average AISA motor score at admission, end of follow up and average final total improvement rate were identified between the surgical subgroups with regard to timing of surgery(P >0.05),but the early surgery group(surgery less than 3 days after injury)has a significant shorter hospital stay than delayed group(surgery greater than 3 days after injury)(P <0.05).Although the average AISA motor score at admission and the end of follow up had statistically significant difference between patient group of traumatic central cord syndrome that with bad wounded hands intrinsic muscle myodynamia after injury and patient groups of traumatic central cord syndrome that with favorable wounded hands intrinsic muscle myodynamia after injury(P <0.05),the better group has a better average final total improvement rate and shorter average length of parenchymal damage on MR imaging than the bad group(P <0.05).The group of Upper limb indicatio morbi positive and negative had no sta-tistically significant difference in the average ASIA motor scores at admission(P >0.05).All patients of positive group diagnose with various kinds of Pathological changes of cervical vertebra while only20 patients of negative group suffered these disease, the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05).The average AISA motor score at end of follow up and average final total improvement rate of the Upper limb indicatio morbi positive group were fall than Upper limb indicatio morbi negative group(P <0.05).Conclusion: Surgery therapy is an effective way to the patients with traumatic central cord syndrome, but it is still not clear that early surgery effect on the neurologic prognosis of patients with traumatic central cord syndrome.Wounded hands intrinsic muscle myodynamia after injury and Upper limb indicatio morbi after injury are the influence factors of neurological prognosis in traumatic central cord syndrome.
