1 Objective1) To explore whether it is feasible that intermittence oro-esophageal tube feeding was applied to patients with Dysphagia.2) To observe the rate of aspiration pneumonia, swallowing function improvement, success rate of cathetering, time of cathetering and quality of life in Stroke Patients with Dysphagia undergoing intermittence oro-esophageal tube feeding. 2 Methods1)A convenience sampling of 76 subjects with dysphagia were selected from December,2014 to May,2015.Patients admitted from December,2014 to February, 2015 were divided into control group and the others patients were treatment group.2)The basic treatments for both groups were same, including health education, anticoagulant therapy, hypertension management, etc. The control group used conventional gastric tube methods for nutrition, water and medicine, the treatment group used intermittent oro-esophageal tube feeding.3)Recorded general and disease-related information of patients with designed general situation questionnaire. The rate of aspiration pneumonia, swallowing functioning, success rate of cathetering, time of cathetering and degree of comforting were evaluated. Used 36-Item Short Form Health survey tool to assess the quality of life of patients with dysphagia.4)Patients should fill in the questionnaire face to face at hospitalized time and at discharged. 3 Results1)According to the information of the patients’ general and disease, patients’ average age was(46.670±9.46) years old, about 78.95% was junior high school degree, about 71.06% living in the rural area accounted. 1~2 kinds of co-morbidities patients were 77.63%.2)Before intervention, the score o f quality of life patients was(91.820±15.14)Physieal Functioning score was( 56.460±20.12) Role Physieal score was(60.140±24.20), Bodily Pain score was(71.250±21.23), Mental Health score was(55.910±19.05),Vitality score was(53.120±21.59), Social Funetioning score was(58.180±20.37),Role Emotional score was(61.210±20.36),General Health score was(55.230±16.15).3)At discharge, the rate of aspiration pneumonia in treatment group and control group were 15.79%and 42.11%, which had statistical difference.4)The functioning of swallowing was evaluated at discharge, 32 patients(84.21%) in treatment group got improving swallowing function compared with 21(55.26%) of the control group, the difference was statistically significant.5)The comforting scores were(2.90±0.75) and(3.54±0.60) for the treatment group and control group, the difference was statistically significan.6)At discharge, the success rate of cathetering of treatment group and control group were 84.80% and 51.72%; the average time of cathetering were(1.72±0.55) and(3.65±0.57), the difference was statistically significant.7)At discharge, respectively, the quality of life scores of treatment group(115.19±16.24),and control group(98.34±16.86). Compared with control group except Vitality, the quality of life of treatment group is higher.the difference was statistically significant, and the quality of life of treatment group and control group were both improved compared with before. 4 Conclusions Compared with the conventional gastric tube methods:1) Intermittence oro-esophageal tube feeding can reduce the rate of aspiration pneumonia. improve the functioning of swallowing.2) Intermittence oro-esophageal tube feeding can improve the functioning of swallowing.3) Intermittence oro-esophageal tube feeding can enhance body comfort level of patient.4) Intermittence oro-esophageal tube feeding can enhance the success rate of cathetering and decrease the time of cathetering.5) Intermittence oro-esophageal tube feeding can improve quality of life of the patients, all dimensions of quality of life have increased.
