FoxM1 belonged to a large family of forkhead box(Fox)transcription factors.Studies had shown that FoxM1 was associated with cell-proliferation,and was expressed only in proliferating cells. The over-expression of FoxM1 in breast cancer cells were closely related to its poor prognosis.FoxM1 also played an important role in the cell cycle progression. The synthesis and decomposition of FoxM1 in cell proliferation throughout the cell division.FoxM1 and tumor metastasis were a hot spot research in recent years. It could mediate the expression of tumor associated genes directly or indirectly which was involved in the proliferation and metastasis of tumor cells.Breast cancer resistance protein(BCRP)was also known as ABCG2 in the human body.It had important function in the human body and the stability of the cells were maintained by efflux transport effect. The cells hypoxia state could be protected by BCRP so as to avoid the damage of cells.Previous studies had confirmed that BCRP could identify and transport a variety of chemotherapeutic drugs and it was closely related to tumor multidrug resistance(MDR).Objective:To investigate the relationship between the expression of FoxM1 and BCRP in breast invasive ductal carcinoma tissues and the clinicopathological characteristics of the patients. Methods:To study 78 cases of invasive ductal carcinoma(IDC)patients of breast and 78 cases of normal breast tissue adjacent to cancer. The expression of FoxM1 and BCRP in breast invasive ductal carcinoma tissues were detected by immunohistochemical SP method and to analyze the relationship between the expression of FoxM1 and BCRP in breast cancer tissues and the clinicopathological parameters. Results: 1.1 The expression of FoxM1 in breast invasive ductal carcinoma and normal breast tissues. The positive rate of FoxM1 in normal breast tissue was15.4%(12/78)and the positive rate was 71.8%(56/78)in IDC.The strong positive cases were 52.6%(41/78)of the total number.1.2 The relationship between the expression of FoxM1 and clinicopathological parameters. The expression level of FoxM1 were related to tumor size,TNM staging, lymph node matastasis and estrogen receptor and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05);The expression of FoxM1 were no significant correlation with age, progesterone receptor and HER2,there were no statistically significant differences(P>0.05).2.1 The expression of BCRP in breast invasive ductal carcinoma and normal breast tissues. The positive rate of BCRP in normal breast tissue was11.5%(9/78)and the positive rate was 53.8%(42/78)in IDC.The strong positive cases were 38.4%(30/78)of the total number.2.2 The relationship between the expression of BCRP and clinicopathological parameters. The expression level of BCRP were related to HER2,TNM staging, lymph node matastasis and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05);The expression of BCRP were no significant correlation with age, tumor size, estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, there were no statistically significant differences(P>0.05).3 Follow up and prognosis analysis All 90 patients were followed up for 78 cases and the follow-up rate was 86.7%.Among them,14 cases were died,46 cases were transferred and the death rate was 17.95%(14/78).The results of Kaplan-Meier single factor analysis showed that the survival time was related to tumor size, clinical stage, lymph node metastasis, vascular tumor thrombus,FoxM1 and BCRP.The differences were statistically significant(P<0.05);The results of cox multi factor analysis showed that the clinical stage,BCRP were statistically significant(P<0.05)compared with tumor size, lymph node metastasis and vascular tumor thrombus and FoxM1 among the factors which influenced the survival time of patients. The results of cox multi factor analysis indicated that the clinical stage and BCRP were the main factor which influenced the survival time of patients.Conclusions:1 The expression of FoxM1 and BCRP in breast invasive ductal carcinoma was higher than that in normal breast tissue.2 The expression level of FoxM1 in breast invasive ductal carcinoma and tumor size,TNM stage, lymph node metastasis and estrogen receptor showed a positive correlation. It prompt that FoxM1 may be an important indicator in the tumor diagnosis, assess treatment and prognosis and may become a target of tumor drug action.3 The expression level of BCRP in breast invasive ductal carcinoma and HER2,TNM stage, lymph node metastasis showed a positive correlation. It prompt that BCRP may be a index which can forecast invasive of breast cancer, biological behavior,to judge the effect of chemotherapy and prognosis.4 The survival time was related to tumor size, clinical stage, lymph node metastasis, vascular tumor thrombus,FoxM1 and BCRP.The clinical stage and BCRP were the main factors which influenced the survival time of patients.
