Objective:Explore the curative effect?safety and cognitive function of schizophrenia-like psychosis of epilepsy after treatment of valproate combined with risperidone. Method:This study is a 8 week double-blind, randomized, controlled clinical trial. Divide 122 patients who are mental disorders due to epilepsy according to the CCMD-3 standard, and who are schizophrenia-like psychosis of epilepsy randomly into 2 groups. The study group is given valproate combined with risperidone, while the control group is given valproate combined with placebo. Among 60 cases in study group, 52 cases complete; among 62 cases in control group, 53 cases complete. Both are assessed in time of baseline, the end of 2nd, 4th, 8th week. The main curative effect index was eighth weekend Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale(PANSS) scores compared with baseline reduction. The cognitive function is assessed by means of Mini-mental State Examination(MMSE). The safety index was assessed by the Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale(TESS) and the seizure status is recorded. Results:At the end of the study, the recovery of study group is obviously better than control group in efficiency and significant efficiency, showing significant statistical difference(P < 0.01).The two groups' MMSE score changes before and after treatment and MMSE score changes between groups show no statistically difference(P > 0.05). After the treatment, the TESS score differences between groups were not significant(P > 0.05). No patients suffered from seizures during treatment. Conclusion:In the treatment of schizophrenia-like psychosis of epilepsy, risperidone shows significant curative effect, mild side effects, small induced convulsions risk.
