Clinical Study Of Wentong Therapy Treating Hanningxueyu Type Of Primary Dysmenorrhea

Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy of Wentong therapy treating hanningxueyu type of primary dysmenorrhea.Methods: 80 patients with primary dysmenorrhea were randomly divided into two groups(n=40).The treatment group were given modified dangguisini decoction,while the control group were given Aspirin enteric-coated tablets.The analgesic effects were measured using the visual analogue scale(VAS);the improvements of TCM symptoms were measured using the TCM symptoms score sheet;the changes of serum estrogen and progesterone levels were also was observed.All measurements were performed before the treatment and after treating for 3 menstrual cycles,respectively.Results:(1)Analgesic effect: in the treatment group,6 cases were recovered,20 cases were markedly relieved,10 cases were relieved,4 case were not relieved,the total effective rate was 85.0%;while in the control group,5 cases were recovered,16 cases were markedly relieved,12 cases were relieved,7 case were not relieved,the total effective rate was 82.5%;the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).(2)The improvements of TCM symptoms: in the treatment group,15 cases were recovered,20 cases were markedly relieved,3 cases were relieved,2 case were not relieved,the total effective rate was 95.0%;while in the control group,2 cases were recovered,10 cases were markedly relieved,10 cases were relieved,18 case were not relieved,the total effective rate was 55.0%;the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).(3)Improvements of individual TCM symptoms: Modified Dangguisini decoction works better on improving the individual TCM symptoms such as the density,color and volume of menses,cold extremities,plainer looking,cold sweats,nausea,vomiting,diarrhea and Rectal bulge,compared to aspirin enteric-coated tablets(P<0.05).(4)The changes of serum estrogen and progesterone levels: in the treatment group,patients' estrogen levels were decreased than they were before the treatment,patients ' progesterone levels were increased than they were before the treatment(P<0.05);While no significant changes of serum estrogen and progesterone levels were found in the in the control group(P> 0.05).Conclusion: modified dangguisini decoction(wentong therapy)can effectively treat the hanningxueyu type of primary dysmenorrhea,it has significant analgesic effects,it can improve patients' TCM symptoms,and it can make good changes of patients' serum estrogen and progesterone levels.
