The Clinical Study Of The Comprehensive And External Treatment Of TCM On Knee Osteoarthritis

Objective:To observe the clinical curative effect of the comprehensive and external treatment of TCM on knee osteoarthritis. In order to explore a comprehensive and external treatment of TCM on knee osteoarthritis which is curative effect, industry recognized, simple to handle and easy to promote.Methods :In accordance with the principle of random grouping,we devided 102 patients into two groups and they were given different treatments respectively. 52 patients in treatment group were given the comprehensive and external treatment of TCM once a day for continuous 7 days as a course of treatment. They were given 2 courses of treatment, that was 2 weeks in all.The other 50 patients in control group were given the standard medical methods once a day for 2weeks. We assessed each patients using the VAS and WOMAC before treatment and the end of treatment. To estimate the clinical curative effect of the comprehensive and external treatment of TCM on knee osteoarthritis. Results: 1.Before treaments,to compare the two groups of patients with gender, age, illness, pain level, course of ill,we found that no statistical significance(P>0.05).2.Two groups of treatment can obviously improve the VAS score(P<0.05).After treatment,in the two groups VAS score comparison, the treatment group is better than the control group( P <0.05).3.Compare the various points of WOMAC between pre-treatment and post-treatment in two groups,the joint function,stiffness and pain score of both groups are improved(P<0.05). The treatment group was superior to the control group in the improvment of pain score(P<0.05),but there has no stastical differences in the improvment of joint function and stiffness between two groups(P > 0.05).4.Compare with the comprehensive and external treatment of TCM and standard medical methods,the effectiveness rate of treatment group is 100% and the control group is 98%,it shows that there has no stastical differences between them.With futher analysis we get the cure-remarkable-effectiveness rate of treatment group was 96%,much higher than the control group was 80%(P<0.05).5.Two groups of patients had no adverse reactions during treatment period.Conclusion:1.The comprehensive and external treatment of TCM has significant effect for knee osteoarthritis especially in the improvment of pain.2.The comprehensive and external treatment of TCM is easy to handle,safe and effective, it has a broad development prospects.
