This paper introduces the research on environmental characteristics and soil heavy metal pollution in Tumd As poisoning ward, Inner Monglia.Through the investigation and ecological geochemical sampling and analysis, and contact the geological tectonic environment and Quaternary sedimentary layer distribution to explain the reasons for ward groundwater arsenic rich.At the same time, it uses the correlation analysis and factor analysis to analyze the sources of heavy metals in soil and utilizes single gene index method and Nemerow multi-factor index method to evaluate the actuality of the soil pollution in study area. We got the following conclusion,1.Through the study of distribution and pollution characteristics of 9 kinds of heavy metal elements in soil.(1) We can know that the arsenic concentration was abnormally high near the Dao Shi village;(2) High-value anomaly of Cd?Hg mainly concentrated in Dao Shi village and Tao Sihao village;(3) High-value anomaly of Cr,Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn, Mn mainly located in the northwest part and the Beijing Tibet expressway, 110 National road.2.Correlation analysis and factor analysis are contributed to analyze the sources of heavy metals in soil, which figure out the following conclusions.(1)The Archean biotite plagioclase gneiss collected from the Daqingshan contain more As, is the main raw biological source of the high arsenic environment.(2)Cd and Hg are polluted by the residential life. The pollution of them has a great relationship with the use of the excessive application of P fertilizer and the large area of plastic film.(3)Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb,Zn and Mn mainly came in the Da Miao mineral, Western Baotou mine and Bayun Ebo mining area.3.(1)Using Single gene index method and Nemerow multi-factor index method to evaluate the pollution caused by heavy metals in soil. There is a small range of severe pollution caused by As, Cd, Hg in the study area. Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn, Mn only exist light pollution.Overall, the pollution level of the study area is mild.(2)Throughthe calculation of the potential ecological risk index of heavy metals, we can see that the degree of the risk is Cd > Hg>As > Ni > Cu > Pb > >Mn > Cr > > Zn.Potential ecological risk index indicated that the potential ecological risk of heavy metal pollution in the study area was mild.4.High arsenic zone formed between tumd basin and the Yellow River River and its tributaries in Heihe, but in the survey area are not all the arsenic poisoning area, arsenic poisoning area in the test area showed a punctate distribution, which is related to geological survey area. The low lying land, flat terrain and dry climate of the basin are the reasons for the formation of rich arsenic water.
