| The melon seeds stored at 0 years,7 years and 13 years in the same inbred line were used as materials to measure the germination and emergence of each index,and to study the effect of storage years on the vitality of melon seeds;During the two storage periods,and different time and concentration of KH2PO4,PEG treatment to determine the impact of seed initiation on the vigor of melon seeds;Selection of seed coating materials and pesticides commonly used in the production of melon seeds to observe the impact of seed germination indicators.The results showed that:1.As the seed storage period increases,melon seeds germinate longer.The first increase in the shelf life of the seed is the germination potential or germination rate of the seed,followed by the germination rate.The seeds with long shelf life are firstly the decrease of emergence rate and the delay or delay of seedling growth period.The second is to reduce the uniformity of seedlings and the weaker seedlings and the proportion of young seedlings increased.With the increase of the storage life of seeds,both the germination potential and the germination rate of the seed germinated at low temperature obviously decreased,especially the difference of the seed germination potential was significant.2.KH2PO4 and PEG treated with appropriate concentration and time could obviously promote the germination index of melon seeds.The effect of KH2PO4 was better than that of PEG,and the treatment of seeds with longer storage time(lower seed vigor)was more significant.KH2PO4 treatment has the effect of delaying seed senescence and increase to the germination rate of seeds under low temperature.PEG-treatedmelon seeds performed very poorly at low temperature germination tests and aging treatments.With the increase of PEG concentration,the rate of water absorption at the late stage of seeds was slowed and the total amount of water absorbed by the seeds decreased slightly.However,the rate of water absorption by KH2PO4 was not significantly different from that of the control.Therefore,KH2PO4-induced seed initiation mechanism may not be related to seed water absorption rate.3.For melon seeds,film forming performance of polyacrylamide,gum arabic,chitosan is better.1.5%chitosan and 1.5%-2%sodium carboxymethyl cellulose can promote the germination of melon seeds.Sodium carboxymethyl starch,sodium alginate,gum arabic,hydroxypropyl cellulose inhibited the germination of melon seeds,among them,sodium alginate and sodium carboxymethyl starch showed stronger inhibitory effect.The effect of polyacrylamide on the germination of melon seeds is small,the difference is not significant.4.50%carbendazim wettable powder,50%mancozeb wettable powder and 50%thiram wettable powder were used for seed dressing and soaking.It had no effect on the germination index of melon seeds.Using the common concentration of calcium hypochlorite,formaldehyde and streptomycin are also safe,but high concentrations of hydrochloric acid may have adverse effects.The germination rate of the unseasoned melon and edible seeds watermelon seeds,which are freshly harvested from the fruits,is low,and the normal germination effect can be basically achieved only by drying.With the prolongation of the fermentation time of the melon seeds(including the seeds and melons pulp from the fruit),the seed viability index showed a slow decline,and the germination power or the germination index reflecting the germination rate declined faster.The prolonged drying time of the seeds from the fruits will significantly affect the seed viability.The greater loss of seed vigor declined with the storage time extension. |
