Abstract/Summary:
In this study, five additives were sole and combined applied to rice straw ensilage, and the nutritive value of the treated rice straw was envluted and their influence on the productive performance, nutrients digestion, rumen fermentation, blood metabolates, slaughter performance as well as meat quality of sheep were tested, the obtained results are shown as follows:Trial 1 Effects of different additive treatments on silage quality and nutrition value of rice straw silageA single factorial trail was designed to study the effects of 5 different additives for the treatment of rice straw on silage quality and nutrition.Six treatments were divided into:C as a control(18 L/500 kg),B(6 ml/kg propionic),BW(6 ml/kg propionic+ mixed microoganisms),WY(5%grounded corn).JY(mixed Microoganisms + 5%grounded corn).Rice straw ensilage was prepared and preserved for 60 days at room temperature. The results showed that compared with group C,the DM,CP and total energy of each group were increased to some extent after using additives, and the contents of NDF and ADF were decreased. The DM of group B,BW,WY and JY increased by 16.83%,27.05%and 16.93%,6.04%respectively.The CP of BW,WY and JY groups increased by 54.9%,18.01%and 18.01%;The NDF of BW,WY and JY decreased by 15.71%,22.51%,21.12%and 8.22%,respectively;C,B,WY group of rice straw storage sensory evaluation grade slightly higher than the other groups.Trial 2 Effects of different additive of rice straw silage on growth performance of sheep42 Han sheep lambs in 3 months and weighing 19 ± 2.5 kg were used as test animals and were randomly divided into six groups.Lambs were fed with a diet with same percentage of the different treated rice straw silage. The results showed that there was a significant difference(P<0.05)of ADG between of group W and BW,BW was the lowest, which indicated that the economic benefit was good.Trial 3 Effects of different additive of rice straw silage on nutritient digestibility and blood metabolates of sheepThe results showed as follows:1.The apparent digestibility of NDF and ADF of treated rice straw silage were significantly different(P<0.05)between BW group and B group. There was significant difference(P<0.05)between group of WY and JY compared with BW.It shows that the addition of propionate and fungi mixed silage straw digestibility of various indicators. There were significant differences(P<0.05)in ALT,albumin, glucose and total cholesterol between group of B and BW,and the high st glucose value was group of B while the lowest were group W.The results showed that the silage of propionate-plus-bacteria treatment group could increase the content of serum LDL-C and had no adverse effect on the health of sheep. There was a significant difference(P<0.05)in the rumen pH before 2-hour fasting, but there was significant difference(P<0.05)between group of WY and JY.The dynamic changes of other groups showed the same trend with no significant difference(P>0.05)Group WY propionic acid was the highest. There was no significant difference(P>0.05)between the two groups at the same time points.Trial 4 Effects of different additive of rice straw silage on slaughter performance and meat quality of sheepAfter the feeding test,4 sheep were slaughtered. The results showed that there was significant difference(P<0.05)between the pre-slaughter live weight in additive group of WY and JY.Group of WY and BW had significant difference(P<0.05)in live weight before slaughter,There was a significant difference(P<0.05)in live weight before slaughter. The WY group had the highest carcass weight in the treatment group, and the silage straw in the corn additive group had the highest slaughter rate and carcass rate for the sheep.WY group and JY group had the lowest water loss rate, which indicating that the groups of JY and WY have more-smaller water loss and the better quality of meat.In summary, addition of grounded corn or propionate to rice straw ensilage could improve nutritive value and to potentially improve sheep production.
