| Soil acidification occurs from the precipitation of acidic substances, which is the result of the excessive acidic and nitrogenous fertilisers uses. The acidification accelerated the cadmium absroption rate. The exceeding cadmium in rice is particularly highlighted,as it does not in compliance with National food safety standards of China. Therefore the research of the correlation between pH value and cadmium absorption in the surrounding soil of the rice plays a critical role in making safety production procedure for the cadmium pollution area. This research conducts a series of hydroponics experiment on X24 to study the effect of varying pH value of culture medium on the characteristics of cadmium uptake and transport in rice seedling. The major outcomes as follows;1.pH Value resulted to be a vital factor on cadmium accumulation in rice seedling and its growth.Experiment indicates that, the highest cadmium content in rice is reached while ph Value of 5.5 is maintained;cadmium content increased correspondingly while pH rising from 4 to 5.5;while ph rising from 5.5 to 8.0,cadmium content decreased correspondingly.Rice seedling wilted,or even shrivelled to death in the culture mediums that with ph of 4.0 to 4.5 and 6.5 to 8.0 after seven days.Seedling grew normally and cadmium content dropped significantly when the mediums have pH 6.5 to 7.0.2.pH value affects the sub-cellular distribution of cadmium ion in rice seedlings.Cell wall of the seedling but the crown, contained most of the cadmium, and cadmium content in it is greater than in protoplast.pH also has the effect on the absorption ratio of cadmium in the cell wall and the protoplast.Whereas while the medium had a pH of 5.5,the cell wall has triple of the cadmium content of protoplast.when the medium had a pH of 4.5,the cell wall has 1.4 times of the cadmium content of protoplast.3.pH value controls the uptake amount of trace elements in rice seedlings.Rice seedlings absorb the amount of trace element correspondingly while the culture mediums have different ph values. The rice seedlings absorb more trace elements when the medium has a pH of 7.0.The uptake amount of trace element rising,as pH value increase from 5.0 to 7.0.However when the pH 7.0 and above is reached, the uptake amount decreased respectively.Cadmium affects the uptake of trace elements distinctively. It helps the uptake of magnesium and calcium, but inhibits the absorption of iron, manganese and zinc.4.pH value impacts on transport efficiency of cadmium via nonselective cation channels(NSCCs).The root of rice mainly absorbs cadmium through NSCCs,and the uptake of cadmium increases with the rising of pH value.Experiment demonstrates my assumption of the impact of pH value affects transport efficiency of cadmium via NSCCs.pH value affects growth, uptake and transport, cadmium accumulation in the cell wall and the efficiency of NSCCs in rice seedlings.Under the condition of acidic soil with a pH of 6.5 to 7.0,Seedlings through the means of reducing Cadmium concentration in the cytoplasm and transport efficiency to the aboveground part of the plant, which helps to prevent the high cadmium accumulation in cell wall and protoplast of the aboveground part of seedlings. |
