Canine distemper is a common infectious disease with a high mortality on domestic dogs.It has a wide range of host including Canine,Mustelidae,Procyonidae and other carnivores, which can cause great harm to animals and human’s economy.Dogs with canine distemper can show multi-systemic signs including respiratory, gastrointestinal, neurological and other symptoms. The respiratory symptoms are more often seen on dogs, with an imaging manifestation of pneumonia. In this research, canine distemper cases were artificially replicated on young dogs, and the chest imaging was observed to analyze the radiographic change on chest in the progression of the disease as well as its relationship to clinical and pathological changes combined with its clinical symptoms, pathological autopsy and histopathology findings, which could provide reference for clinical diagnosis and analysis of canine distemper. The main content of this research was divided into the following two parts:1.Artificial infection tests of canine distemper. To study on thoracic radiographic change of respiratory canine distemper, canine distemper cases shoule be replicated. Two samples were collected and treated from canine distemper dogs with respiratory symptoms.Sample A was from body secretions of a dog, sample B was from tissues of another dog.Two groups of young dogs were inoculated with sample A and B separately. Results:Group infected with sample B had a higher incidence of canine distemper, dogs with canine distemper in this group showed strong respiratory symptoms, which could be used as research objects for studies on chest imaging of respiratory canine distemper.2.Chest imaging observation of respiratory canine distemper on young dogs.Young dogs with respiratory canine distemper selected from the last experiment were examined for body temperature, routine blood examination, etc.Chest X-ray images were taken before and after infection throughout the course of canine distemper to show changes on radiographic changes on chest.Pathological autopsy and histopathology examination were taken on a dead dog. Results:Chest X-ray image of respiratory canine distemper dogs mainly showed a bronchopneumonia change, which could become severe with confluent bronchopneumonia. There was a relationship between the radiographic and pathological changes in lung, which was that a density increase in lung caused by inflammation resulted in a corresponding increase of lung opacity. The appearance and disappearance of pneumonia images did not exactly coincide with that of respiratory symptoms on clinic.Summary:One group of young dogs artificially infected with CDV field strain was successful, and dogs with canine distemper of this group showed typical symptoms of the disease, which could be used as models for the studies on chest imaging of respiratory canine distemper.Chest X-ray images were taken on model dogs to show a dynamic process on chest image throughout the course of canine distemper, for summary of the chest imaging features of respiratory canine distemper as well as the relationship of radiographic change to clinical and pathological changes.
