Quercus variabilis is one of excellent native tree species, to study its afforestation technology and effect are meaningful to Quercus variabilis plantation practical activities. This article was based on that to plant four kinds Quercus variabilis (1-year container seedling,2-year container seedling 2-year bare-rooted,3-year bare-rooted seedling) in different aspects (sunny slope, cloudy slope) and different seasons (spring, autumn)was to study afforestation effects by measuring and analyzing survival ratio, growth and photosynthetic parameters of plants. The results will provide theory evidence for Quercus variabilis plantation in Taihang Mountain suitable afforestation area. These are main results:(1) Except seedling high of four seedling types increased slowly, indexes of container seedling including survival ratio, annual rate of growth, quality of branch root and dry weight of fine-root, total biomass, content of Chlorophyll, total carbon, total nitrogen were all better than bare-rooted seedlings. It can be showed from annual rate of growth of container seedlings were significant higher than bare-rooted seedlings, and the effects of 2-year container seedlings were the best.(2) The survival ratio of container seedlings was not affected by seasons; the survival ratio of bare-rooted seedlings in spring was significant high than it in autumn. The root mass, stem mass, leaf mass and total mass had same results. But afforestation effects in autumn of bare-rooted seedlings was better than spring, the root mass, stem mass, leaf mass and total mass of container seedlings planted in autumn were significant higher than spring, The content of Chlorophyll of container seedlings planted in autumn was 47.3% higher than planted in spring. The content of total nitrogen of 1-year container seedlings and 2-year container seedlings which planted in autumn were 13.5%,24.1% higher respectively than in spring. Seasons were not affected to quantity of main roots length, main roots width, branch roots and fine-roots dry weight significantly.(3) The Slope was affected survival ratio, biomass accumulation and Photosynthetic ability, Specific performance were that main roots length,The total content of Chlorophyll, The content of leaf total nitrogen of all seedling types planted at sunny slope were all higher than cloudy slope. But the dry weight of roots planted at cloudy slope was higher than sunny slope.
