Pharmacognosy Study On Different Varieties Of Raphani Semen

Objective: In order to provide the fundamental basis for fine variety selection and quality control of Raphani Semen,this paper analyzed and compared morphological characters and chemical components of Raphani Semen from different groups and different varieties.Methods: Recording of Raphani Semen were studied by reviewing the past and present literature.Commercially available Raphani Semen were collected as experimental materials.Observe their morphological and microscopic characteristics,assay the contents of total flavonoids,sinapine thiocyanate,glucoraphenin potassium salt,fatty acid,amino acid and protein,etc. by UV and HPLC,and the results were analyzed by spss17.0.Results: According to the records,the source of Raphani Semen is clear,and is planted all over the country.In ancient times,different varieties of Raphani Semen were distinguished from the appearance of the root.Modern and herbal record are consistent for the morphological characters of the original plant,the appearance of the seed,the harvest time and the clinical efficacy.The morphological characters and the amount of active contents of the Raphani Semen on market are divergent,and cannot be accurate in medicinal process.The result of morphological examination showed that,for the three main varieties of Raphani Semen,those with white roots are the biggeest,while those with red roots are the smallest.The micro-morphology characteristics of each variety of Raphani Semen also have apparent differences,which could be a criterion for variety distinguishment.For the amount of nutrition components and active components,those with red roots is the highest.As for other varieties of Raphani Semen,morphological characters and the amount of active contents also have obvious differences.The amount of active components of xinlimei is the highest.Conclusion: The morphological characters and the amount of active contents of different varieties of Raphani Semen have significant differences.The excellent medicinal variety is the Raphani Semen with red root.Xinlimei can be a source of Raphani Semen. This study provides a theoretical basis for screening excellent varieties and stabling the quality of Raphani Semen.
