Cinnamomum porrectum(Roxb.) Kosterm, belonging to the lauraceae family, is an important aromatic and timber plant, distributing mainly in southern China. Recently years, the rising demand to(+)-linalool greatly accelerates the development of C. Porrectum resources. However, the industry related to C. Porrectum is still in the initial stage of development owing to weak research ability, lack of resource information and competitive germplasm make. In this research, we characterize the leaf essential oils profile of C.Porrectum from Jiangxi province by Gas chromatography-Mass spectrometry(GC/MS)and five chemotypes are identified by principal component analysis and cluster analysis.Further, essential oils yield and the major component content are analyzed to help us plus trees screening and breeding. The main results are as follows:alcohols, esters, hydrocarbons and ketones are main compounds in leaf essential oils profile of C. Porrectum. Of them, 20 compositions are identified, accounting for 88.74% of the essential oil. 193 C. Porrectum can be classified five chemotypes, including Linalool type, Camphor type, Eudesmol type,Trans-nerolidol type, Mixed type, and the distribution proportion is 2.59%, 4.66%, 3.11%, 85.49%, 4.15%, respectively. The yield of the five chemotype essential oils are significantly different. The mean value of the yield of the five chemotypes is 1.598%(eudesmol type), 1.527%(linalool type), 0.142%(trans-nerolidol type), 0.108%(mixed type) and 0.047%(camphor type),respectively. The principal components and their contents of the five chemotype essential oils are also significantly different. No obvious principal component is found in the mixed. The mean values of the principal components of other four chemotypes is linalool(76.36%),camphor(53.47%), eudesmol(45.96%) and trans-nerolidol( 32.21%), respectively. The essential oils yield and the contents of main component of individual from the same chemotype are different. The difference of essential oils yield is more discrete than that of the main component content.
