| The Sorghum is suitable for growing in Xinjiang on account of its good characteristics, such as high biomass, high sugar content, high conversion into alcohol, strong stress resistance and so on. It is important to improve the yield and sugar content for the Sorghum. The field study was conducted with two varieties of sorghum as the object and planted in different sowing dates. One was the early-maturing variety and another one was the late-maturing variety. The experiment was designed with five sowing date for ten treatments to determine the plant height,stem diameter,yield,brix,stem sugar,and SS,SPS at the different growth periods. The results of the study were presented as follows:1. The process and the dates about the growth period of sweet sorghum varied with sowing date. The growth period of sweet sorghum postponed as sowing data was later with different variety. number of days of growth period is much less with the later sowing. The period from elongation stages to flag leaf stage decreased as sowing data was later.2. The plant height and stem diameter was more significant effect with sowing data, that effect of plant height was more than that of stem diameter. The plant height of sweet sorghum in different varieties was correlated positively to the sowing date, the correlation between stem diameter and sowing data were positive, the mean of the stem diameter with second sowing data was largest. The plant height and stem diameter varied with sowing data in optimum sowing data.3. The yield was significant effect with sowing data in different variety. The yield of sowing 1 was more 61.2% than that of sowing 5 with XT-2, the yield of sowing 1 was more 18.3% than that of sowing 5 with T601. The yield of sorghum was higher with early sowing data.4. The Brix of sorghum was significant effect with sowing data. It was not conducive to improving Brix in late sowing date. There was a rapidly rising period about brix in late growth stage of two varieties.5. The sugar of sorghum was significant effect with sowing data. Total sugar and sucrose was high in growth period, the reducing sugar was high first and then decreased, and was reduced in all growth period. The content of total sugar was highest in sowing 1 with early variety, the content of total sugar was highest in sowing 5 with later variety.6. There was a same tendency in SS activity of two varieties, it was down when reaching the peak. The SS activity was highest with sowing 1 for XT-2 variety, and was lowest with sowing 5. The SS activity was highest with sowing 3 for T601 variety, and was lowest with sowing 1.7. There was a volatility trends in SPS activity of two varieties, but the trends of SPS activity with two varieties was different. The trend of SPS activity was varied with the growth period, was increased slightly in all growth period with XT-2 variety. The SPS activity with XT-2 variety was highest for sowing 1 in the milk stage, was lowest in sowing 5. The SPS activity with T601 variety was highest for sowing 4 in the mature stage, was lowest in sowing 1. |
