There were two experiments in this paper.Chinese herbal medicine feed additives Chinese Ephedra preparation(CEP)and Twotooth Achyranthes Root preparation(TARP)were made and their applied effects in finishing pigs were investigated in the experiment 1.The functional feed additive BEM compound agent(BEM)for calves was made and the applied effects of BEM and TARP in calves were observed in the experiment 2.In the experiment 1,60 healthy two-way crossbred(Yorkshire×Landrace)finishing pigs with the similar body weight and the same gender were randomly divided to three groups,each group 20 with 10 pigs of per treatment.The control group pigs were fed to basal diet;the experimental group A pigs were fed to the diet supplemented with 0.35% of CEP;the experimental group B pigs were fed with the diet supplemented with 0.70% of TARP.The feeding experimental period was 45 d.The feeding experimental results were as follows:ADG and FCR of the experimental group B pigs was significantly higher than the control group(P<0.05);ADG and FCR of the experimental group A pigs were slightly more than the control group(P>0.05).TP in the experimental group A pig serum was highly significantly more than the control group(P<0.01).TG,TC,UN and GPT activity in the experimental group A pig serum were significantly less than the control group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).TP in the experimental group B pig serum was highly significantly more than the control group(P<0.01).TG,TC,GOT and GPT activities in the experimental group B pig serum were significantly less than the control group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).In the experiment 2,18 similar weight,healthy,Simmental ×Wan crossbred calves were selected and divided into 3 groups:the control and the experimental group A and B,6 calves in every group.The control group calves were fed with the current diet in the cattle farm of Daming,the experimental group A and B calves were respectively fed with the current diet of Daming supplemented with 20 g TARP(20g?d)and 20 g BEM(20g?d).The experimental period were 35 d.The experimental results were as follows:weight gain of the experimental group B calves was remarkably more than the control group(P<0.05).GPT activity and TG concentration in the experimental group A and B calf serum were respectively significantly(P<0.05)and highly significantly(P<0.01)less than the control group;IgG and TP concentrations in the experimental group A and B calf serum were respectively significantly(P<0.05)and highly markedly(P<0.01)more than the control group.The supplementation of BEM in the current diet of Daming could increase evidently(P<0.05)and highly observably(P<0.01)the digestibility of CP,EE,NFE,CF,Ca and P.The results of two experiments suggested that:(1)CEP and TARP could play good roles in the growth of finishing pigs,feed utilization,nutritional biochemical metabolism and the structure and function of cells,therefore CEP and TARP both could be used as feed additives for finishing pigs;(2)the supplementations of TARP and BEM had active effects on growth,digestible performance,nutritional biochemical metabolism,the structure and function of cells and synthesis of antibodies of calves,so TARP and BEM could be also used as feed additives for calves.
