With the development of the times, Genetic Soil Classification of China (GSCC) has gradually exposed some disadvantages that couldn't been made up, such as classification ambiguity, lack of quantitative, and prone to the same soil of different names or same name of different soil. The development of Soil Taxonomy provides an effective solution to deal with these problems and has gradually become the mainstream of the world's soil classification. After nearly three decades of research, Chinese Soil Taxonomy (CST) has established a complete system of senior classification level. Later on,?Principles and Criteria for Establishment of Soil Family and Soil Series of Chinese Soil Taxonomy (1st Draft)? was brought in on 2012, and ?Criteria for Establishment of Soil Family and Soil Series in Chinese Soil Taxonomy)) was published on 2013 which both made a great impact. However, the indexes and their standards for soil series dividing still are deficient, and what's worse, the number of soil series have been confirmed in China is far less than it should be. At the same time, Jiangsu province, as an important agricultural area, its soil data still remain in the country's second national soil survey based on GSCC, no study about soil taxonomy and soil series. This paper studied the typical soils in Jiangsu province based on CST, and determined its position in CST; and selected a typical sample area and soil types, studied the influencing factor of soil series classification and soil series classification methods, established some new soil series, and lastly make a preliminary study on soil series establishment of Jiangsu Province based on the above work.According to the existing criteria for soil series establishment and take the above results as reference, the indicators and their standards for soil series dividing in Jiangsu Province is established, and the search order is as follows:? Soil parent materialIf soil profile characteristics or properties (including soil configuration, texture configuration, etc.) are different, and the difference caused by the soil parent material, divided into different soil series;? Soil special layers and their depth, thickness and propertiesIs there any soil special layers; and/orThe upper bound of some specific soil layers belongs to different levels as 0-50 cm, 50?100cm or 100?150cm; and/orThe diversity in soil thickness of the upper bound of some specific soil layers is up to twice or more than 30cm; and/orSome soil properties belong to different levels or more than 10 units on the quantity variance;Divided into different soil series;? Major soil layers and their depth, thickness and propertiesThe upper bound of some major soil layers belongs to different levels as 0-50cm, 50-100cm or 100-150cm; and/orThe diversity in soil thickness is up to twice or more than 30cm; and/orSome soil properties belong to different levels or more than 10 units on the quantity variance;Divided into different soil series;? The profile texture configurationIf the profile texture configuration is different;Divided into different soil series;? Surface soil textureIf soil mixing texture in epipedon (20cm) belongs to different categories as sand, loam, clay loam, clay;Dividing into different soil series; In accordance with the above criteria,159 new soil series with certain characters and characteristics were established in Jiangsu Province, which be named as follows:Dongdun Series, Taozhuang Series, Zhenze Series, Shengze Series, Boyi Series, Binhu Series, Ganquan Series, Yangshe Series, Huaqiao Series, Qingyang Series, Xingshi Series, Meicun series, Shuangtang Series, Chengdun Series, Hujia Series, Miaoqiao Series, Qianhuang Series, Zhongxin Series, Houhua Series, Huangji Series, Dali Series, Shenzhuang Series, Panzhuang Series, Tang Quan Series, Houzhuang Series, Yuwei Series, Shitang Series, Qing Yang Series, Songqiang Series, Xiandong Series, Liangwa Series, Shiqiao series, Xiedang Series, Yangji Series, Yanghe Series, Tangji Series, Zhangzhuang Series, Guandun Series, Qianxiang Series, Hanshan Series, Xinmin Series, Changqingsha Series, Shuangzhuang Series, Xiaowu Series, Matun Series, Dunmenbei Series, Tangqiao Series,Gaodong Series, Kaiming Series, Xuzhuang Series, Shucheng Series, Qianshi Series, Baipu Series, Juzhen Series, Bencha Series, Shengci Series, Xinglong Series, Guoyuan Series, Motou Series, Xiayuan Series, Dongchen Series, Banjing Series, Zhanghuanggang Series, Yingfang Series, Chenji Series, Xiaoyuan Series, Wangxin Series, Tangdong Series, Xuwei Series, Zhaowan Series, Tongli Series, Zhennan Series, Huaishu Series, Guanzhuang Series, Wangzhigang Series, Qiuzhuang Series; Xiaosongzhuang Series, Anfeng Series, Yangxi Series, Jinting Series; Huangjia Series, Fengyun Series; Gaodong Series, Zhengliang Series, Huandun Series, Qinglong series, Niushan Series, Hehu Series, Shihulinchang Series, Songshan Series, Dinggang Series, Xiaosha Series, Xiantan Series, Hufu Series, Pingshan Series, Yaznziji Series, Hengshan Series, Dongbatou Series, Wanggang Series; Minxin Series,Huachong Series, Xuhong Series, Zhongwan Series, Daqiao Series, Xuliang Series, Zhewang Series, Dunmen Series,Sheyanggang Series, Taoyuan Series, Dingyao Series, Goubang Series, Xingken Series, Haihe Series, Zhangliu Series, Liren Series, Xincaonongchang Series, Xincao Series, Sancang Series,Donggang Series, Caomiao Series, Doulong Series, Sanlong Series, Aiyuan Series, Linhai Series, Linhai Series, Xiacun Series, Chengtou Series, Songzhuang Series, Doutan Series, Huangni Series, Shuxi Series, Zhuliang Series, Qingshanquan Series, Cuizhou Series, Fengwang Series, Xiaoxinzhuang Series, Dalou Series, Longquan Series, Beini Series, Zuokou Series, Damiao Series, Daquan Series, Duanzhuang Series, Linian Series, Dawei Series, Hanzhuang Series, Miaodong Series, Zhaoma Series, Changliu Series, Fangchihe Series, Zhongwu Series, Jizhuang Series, Maoshan Series, Jingqiao Series, Shiqiu Series, Mufushan Series, Gaozi Series, Dongshanqiao Series, Shuangdian Series, Yinliang Series.
