Using safety belts can effectively reduce the number of accidental deaths and the severity of injuries in traffic accidents.Compared with other safety equipments in automobiles,safety belt is simple and economical regarding to vehicle safety equipments.Therefore,the use of safety belts deserves the relevant scholars' attention.At present,there are few research on the driver's safety belts both at home and abroad,and the research on the use of safety belts is still in a blank state.Few related literatures can provide references for this topic.Based on the above research background,this paper adopts the observational method to record the use of safety belts for drivers and co-drivers in 15 locations of Chengdu,and draws information on the use of safety belts by pilots and co-drivers and using these extracted data for research and analysis.The purpose of this study is to explore the significant influencing factors of driver's and copilot's safety belt use,and to put forward corresponding suggestions and measurements to improve the use of safety belt.In order to reduce the traffic death toll and reduce the severity of the injuries in Chengdu.This paper first determines the safety belt data collection sites.And a certain number of samples were collected according to the speed limit,urban or suburban areas,with or without monitoring facilities,with or without law enforcement officers,whether it is the construction area and the weather conditions of the survey.and through Artificial identification,by which a pure source of data analysis was acquired.On this basis,first,the descriptive statistics method is used to analyze the characteristics of the driver's and co-driver's safety belts,and the relationship between the characteristic factors and drivers and co-drivers is analyzed.According to the results of the analysis,the potential factors influencing driver and copilot safety belt preliminarily were screened out.Second,a Bivariate Probit regression model was developed to analyze the impact of driver and copilot safety belt usage simultaneously.According to the results of the model parameters,the factors influencing the use of safety belts of drivers and co-drivers are significantly influenced by factors such as the age of the driver,the driver's gender,Category,speed limit,whether the construction area and whether it is downtown.And analyzed its influence law and influence mechanism on driver's safety belt and co-driver's safety belt use.Finally,from the perspective of education,law enforcement and engineering means,made specific suggestions and measurements for each significant factor to improve Chengdu City drivers and co-pilot safety belts utilization,to mention the overall level of traffic safety into the city.
