Water space,as one of the most distinctive ecological landscape elements in Wuhan,has been damaged due to urban sprawls in last two decades.Existed researches paid more attention to some limited water fragments rather than the macroscopic spatial pattern evolution and its influences.It is urgent to carry out research on the spatial pattern evolution of water space and its influences.First of all,with the landscape pattern analysis software Fragstats,this thesis analyzed spatial pattern evolution of water space of the main city of Wuhan during the past 20 years,and found out that its water space has been scaled down,with increasingly more fragments,more simple shape and lower connectivity.Secondly,based on ArcGIS,analyzed the interaction between the change of water space and urban space growth according to the land transfer matrix from two aspects: destination that water transfered to and the land source of urban spatial growth.It shows that the amount of water space transferred to construction land directly determines spatial pattern of water space,and the main source of urban spatial growth is agricultural land and water space,which depends on the national and local policy.Since the policy of the water space protection is rather less and decreed rather late,the status of construction land encroached into water has been rather serious.Last but not the least,analyzed the impact of different types of construction land that encroached into water space to the spatial pattern of water space and their dynamic mechanism.It shows that residential land is the main type of construction land that encroached into water space,which has significant effect on the scale and shape changing during water spatial pattern evolution;Traffic land is the second largest type of construction land that encroached into water space,which has significant effect on the fragmentation and connectivity changing during water spatial pattern evolution;Industrial land is relatively small,which influences the fragmentation and shape changing during water spatial pattern evolution,as well as the connectivity condition.The influence of urban spatial growth to water spatial pattern is mainly driven by four dynamic mechanism: management constraints mechanism,demand promoting mechanism,space connecting mechanism and the industrial agglomeration mechanism.According to all the analysis mentioned above,puts forward three key levels of optimization strategies for water space management.Firstly,measures should be taken through improve the regulations of water space protection and strengthen the dynamic supervision on water space,to improve the system of water space protection.Secondly,steps should be taken to secure and restore the scale of water space,repair natural coastline of water space and strengthen the connectivity of water space,in order to optimize water spatial pattern.Thirdly,actions should be taken to optimize the guidance of construction planning,strengthen the construction of comprehensive transport infrastructure,as well as relocate the industrial sites and transform the exiting industry,so as to optimize construction land growth.
