Abstract/Summary:
Intercooler is an important component of modern diesel engines,in order to reduce the designing time of the intercooler and improve the calculation precision,the author used Power Builder to program a software for designing air intercoolers of engines.The log mean temperature difference method and effectiveness-NTU method were used in the software.By comparison,the log mean temperature difference method had a higher consistency with the experimental results,and the effects of structure of the intercoolers on its performance were analyzed using this software.Analyzed the effects that the fin spacing,the wind speed,the tube height,the tube width of intercoolers have on their heat transfer and pressure resistance performance by the software built by logarithmic mean temperature difference method.Studies show that: with the increase of fin pitch in the tube,the pressure drop of hot wind decrease and the pressure drop of cold wind keep stable.With the increase of the fin spacing on the cooling side,the pressure drop of hot wind increase slightly and the pressure drop of cold wind decrease gradually.With the increase of the cold wind speed,the pressure drop of hot wind decrease gradually and the pressure drop of cold wind increase gradually.With the increase of the tube height,the pressure drop of hot wind decrease,then keep stable,the pressure drop of the cold wind decrease slightly.With the increase of the tube width,the pressure drop of the hot wind decrease,and then keep stable,the pressure drop of the cold wind increase.For straight fin intercoolers,CFD method is used to explore the effects of their structure size have on their heat transfer performance and resistance performance.Analyzed the effects of holes spacing,fin spacing,and fin height have on their heat transfer and pressure resistance performance bythe results from Fluent software.Studies show that: with the increase of the cold wind speed,the pressure drop of four different intercooler models increase.The heat transfer coefficient can be increased by decrease the hole spacing,the fine spacing and the fine height of the intercoolers.
