The Research On The Power Of Synthesis Of Alejandro Aravena's Architecture Design

Alejandro Aravena won the Pritzker Architecture Award in 2016,and the jury wrote in its comments: “Alejandro Aravena epitomizes the revival of a more socially engaged architect,especially in his long-term commitment to tackling the global housing crisis and fighting for a better urban environment for all.He has a deep understanding of both architecture and civil society,as is reflected in his writing,his activism and his designs.The role of the architect is now being challenged to serve greater social and humanitarian needs,and Alejandro Aravena has clearly,generously and fully responded to this challenge.” Aravena integrated his thinking of life into architecture design and his works showed openness and inclusiveness.He explained the multiple roles of the architect by practice and made a strong response to social responsibility,economic demands and the improvement of human settlement.Alejandro Aravena excels at utilizing the power of synthesis in architecture design to inject the power of life into the building.From the power of synthesis in architecture design,the paper explores the unique architectural design concept of Aravena.There are three parts which in-depthly interpretate Aravena's architectural concept in the dissertation.First of all,the dissertation elaborates the synthesis of construction elements by Aravena.In the process of architectural design,Aravena was influenced by some architectural theories and was good at synthesizing construction elements with the combination of in-depth thinking of his own.The second point is Aravena's synthesis of environmental resources.He never considered architecture in isolation and usually adapted a variety technique to adjust and take advantage of the resources in the environment where the building is located skillfully,so as to create a more suitable environment by ingeniously making the best use of the advantages and bypass the disadvantages.Finally,it is analyzed that Aravena uses urban and social resources to solve social problems and his outstanding contributions in the field of social housing is mainly dissected.With the help of increment and value increase,he helps to lift low-income families out of poverty and lets the public participate in the design at the same time.Next,based on the elaboration of the Quinta Monroy social housing project,the application of the power of synthesis in architecture design by Aravena is analyzed in detail.As an excellent architect,Aravena deserves the praise of the world for his unique architectural concept and social responsibility of paying attention to the people's livelihood.
