In recent years, with the development of China's rural economy, minivans have been favored by people in economically underdeveloped regions due to their advantages of low prices and large space inside vehicles. However, minivans are thin due to their own structure, collision compatibility, etc. There are deficiencies, coupled with the weak traffic safety awareness of the drivers of minivans in rural areas, and the number of minivan accidents is on the rise.In the event of an accident, the occupants often have more casualties. In particular, collisions with casualties will occur during high-speed driving.Even more serious, and the limitations of the minivan's own structure cannot be overcome in a short time. Therefore, passive safety protection of occupants seems particularly important. Therefore, the collision between the minivan and the guardrail is the starting point, and the finite element simulation technology is used.Research and analysis based on the protection of the collision between the minivan and the guardrail. This paper uses the finite element analysis method as a research method, establishes a miniature van model, and verifies it through real vehicle crash test. The driver selects THUMS human finite element model. The human body parts such as the head, neck, knee and chest were verified and tested, and some parameters were adjusted to make the THUMS dummy meet the collision simulation requirements.FEM model of Gr-A-2C two-wave barriers were established refferring to The Evaluation Specification for Highway Safety Barrier. The finite element model of Gr-A-2C waveform protection fence was built using the finite element Hyperworks software. The simulation model of LS-Dyna was used as the solver. Finally, the finite element model of the minivan and guardrail collision system was simulated and analyzed. And from the stability of the calculation model to verify the reliability of the simulation. The finite element simulation results are used to analyze the operation status, running trajectory, acceleration of the vehicle body, and the deformation of the guardrail, then analyze the driver's safety status. It can be seen that due to the limitations of its own structure, minivans are easily obstructed with guardrails, after the “malaxate” phenomenon of minivan and guardrail, the driver has a significant deficiency under the protection of the current system. In addition, the safety awareness of driving groups in the current minivan is relatively weak. Therefore, this article has never been wearing seat belts, ordinary seat belts replaced with pre-tightening limited force seat belts in two aspects of the driverprotection research analysis and conclusions are as follows:1)When the dummy is not wearing a seat belt, there is a danger of flying out to the upper left because there is no restraint. The driver's head is in contact with the windshield and the skull is severely fractured. The chest collided with the steering wheel to make the chest serious.Impaired, contact between the lower extremities and the interior can result in fractures of the thighbone.Under the restraint of an ordinary seatbelt, although the head comes in contact with the lower extremities and the interior,it does not cause serious fatal injuries.2)Dummy under pre-tightening limited force seatbelt restraint, the driver is well restrained and fixed on the seat,to avoid the driver's secondary collision contact with the car body, and the damage of the dummy under the restraint of ordinary safety belt.Comparative analysis found that the head and chest suffered significantly reduced injuries.Ultimately, the optimization of the occupant restraint system through the use of pre-tightening force-type seat belts has greatly improved the protection level of the mini-van driver. This article has important practical significance for vehicle improvement, occupant protection, and awareness of driver safety protection.
