In recent years, with the expanded of highway in our country, traffic accidents that happen on the highway is increasing year by year. Among them nearly 1/3 accident are due to the impact between vehicles and guardrails. The study on traffic safety is still at the starting stage at present in our country, So the research work that carries on in this respect has a very realistic and great meaning.This paper announces the inherent relation among the damage of the persons and relevant factors of traffic accident, such as the impact angle, then impact speed and so on, by studying the dynamic response of vehicle, guardrail in colliding. By improve guardrail structure to improve the protective performance, which will reduce the person's damage degree in accident.In this paper a impact simulation system had been set up on the base of finite element simulation technology. Simulation impact tests had been conducted under different impact conditions. By comparing the dynamic response of automobile and guardrail of different test, some meaningful conclusions had been made:1. In the same impact speed, with the increase of impact angle the initial impact position between automobile and guardrail move far away from the post gradually, the acceleration of the car will slightly drop.2. Frictions between automobile and guardrail have very great influence on the response of automobile. With the increase of frictional force, the direction ability of guardrail will be weak. To correct the orbit of automobile will be more difficult.3. The connection characteristic between guardrail board and post has very great influence on the protective performance of the guardrail. Intensity of bolt should not be too big, in order to fail before guardrail board fall to ground with posts. Guarantee that the guardrail high will not be highly reduced.In the paper, a new type of guardrail post had been brought out, which is called Pop-out guardrail post. As the results of simulation test show, the new type of post has better performance than the traditional.
