Research On Traditional Pile-dmwelling House Space Update In North Guangxi

North Guangxi is in southern border of China where the ethnic minorities live from generation to generation,which has strong regional culture and art connotation.Pile-dwelling houses in north Guangxi have local cultural features and technology essence,which are suitable for the cliffy mountainous region and meet the different customs.With economy developing,dwellers are also developing in a diversified way and many problems appear.On the one hand,the protective policies are backward and enough measures haven’t been taken.People haven’t attach great importance to protection of houses.On the other hand,the conflicts between modern life style and traditional houses cause the abandonment of houses,disorder update of houses and the disappearance of traditional houses.How to assimilate into the modern life space based on inheritance of historical culture and find the proper update development method in the conflicts between the modernism and tradition are primary issues.This paper does a research on pile-dwelling houses in north Guangxi.From the perspectives of architecture and social science,this paper does a deep research on update development strategies of pile-dwelling houses through investigating,surveying and drawing,interviewing,case analyzing and designing.This paper consists of six chapters:The first chapter gives a introduction of research background,which expounds the current status and results of researches of pile-dwelling house update both at home and abroad.And then it leads to the research methods and innovations of this paper.The second chapter gives a general introduction of types and methods to handle environment of pile-dwelling houses in north Guangxi and makes a contrast among different ethnic pile-dwelling houses.Through on-the-spot investigation,visited the various space of houses,houses are found zoning is not clear enough,a waste of space,low height,damp,many problems such as lack of ventilation and lighting,from production and life,family structure,material and technology promotes spatial updating.The third chapter discusses the update strategy of space one by one.Referring to theories on space update both at home and abroad,functional space characteristics,based on the arrangement of the furniture,production,column structure of Guibei folk houses space,living space,traffic space,outdoor space renovation design,into modern life in the traditional space.The fourth chapter discusses strategies of space combination update further.Based on meeting basic demand of modern life,it considers the population structure change and industry transform on house space combination with developing,proposes update strategies categorized and explores the application of modern life space and new technical material in pile-dwelling houses in north Guangxi.The fifth chapter describes the practice of space update in Longsheng District of north Guangxi,which is the practice combining traditional houses and modern life space,shows the theories in practices directly and provides orientation and update strategies for house space update.The sixth chapter summarizes the research results and limitations of this paper and proposes the expectation for the future.
