Nowadays, creating better environment has been an important target in housing and construction, which concerning people’s living, working and so on.In the research field of thermal environment, thermal comfort is one of the biggest issues because it is not only related to improving our lives, but also to building energy efficiency closely.According to thermal adaptation theories, thermal comfort concerns both physical and psychological, physiological factors. Most of the researches share a common goal of finding out the influence of building thermal environment and human physiological changes on human thermal comfort, but at present lack the the connection between thermal comfort and the basic spatial attributes, such as spatial scale, shape, penetration as well as color, texture. This paper, selecting Tianjin which is a typical city in cold climate area as the research background, conducted a series of experiments from July to August 2016 and January 2017 in a climate chamber,in order to find out the connection between window form and thermal comfort.64 subjects, mainly undergraduate and postgraduate students in Tianjin, were measured and surveyed totally under different window form and operating temperature.Limited by the existing experimental conditions,it is impossible to cover all the factors of window form.To make the fullest use of all kinds of resources and to make things easy, the window to wall ratio, sill height and horizontal continuity are taken into account in the experiment, each of which is fundamental and typical and contains several levels. In this paper, the experimental results show that there is no significant effect on the average skin temperature, health and mood but spatial cognition of window form, and that window to wall ratio may have a significant impact on thermal comfort, especially in summer(P<0.05),while sill height and horizontal continuity may have little impact on thermal comfort. All these conclusions still need to be demonstrated by further research.
