Research On The Street System And Public Space Construction In Xiaoxihu,Southern Historical District Of Nanjing

Xiaoxihu street block is in the southern district of Nanjing and is one of the twenty-two historical feature districts of Nanjing.The living environment and public space can not meet the requirements of modern life.There are chaos of traffic organization,lack of public space,lack of infrastructure,fire facilities and other issues.The quality of life of the residents is worrying.For they can not achieve decent and self-esteem,let alone living a self-sufficient community life.The history,street structure,spatial form,traffic system are researched based on detailed investigation data,from the perspective of the street system and space places.The problems and activation potential of Xiaoxihu area are explored from three aspects:artificial material space,natural ecological space and spiritual culture.At the same time,the spatial syntax is introduced to quantitatively analyze the vitality of the street system.Finally,operable activation strategies of street system and public space are made from the perspective of renovation policy design and material space design,.
