The fields of energy and environmental protection are closely related with the automobile industry and have aroused wide public concern.In recent years,the smoggy weather has increased significantly in China and seriously affected the normal life of people.At the same time,oil imports increased year by year in our country and oil dependence on foreign countries continue to rise.The interrelated industrys have done a lot of researches and analyses on fuel efficiency of the automobile.Therefore,energy-saving and emission-reduction have always been the working target of automotive engineers.Diesel engines have high combustion efficiency and fuel efficiency.Their combustion process is more complex than gasoline engines'.In order to meet the increasingly strict regulations on emission and fuel consumption,we must choose the engines with excellent performance in the type-selection stage of automotive engines.Cummins is a diesel engine manufacturer which gathers five key technologies,including integrated intake,fuel,electronic control,combustion optimization,lubrication and post-processing.ISF engine is the light-duty flagship products which Cummins invested heavily in the latest research and only produces in China,among them,the series of ISF2.8 diesel engines,their technology and full set of processing,assembling,testing and inspection equipments have gone through digestion,absorption and innovation to adapt to the situation of China.The products include Toyota cylinder block with relievo,German Mahle connecting rod,high-pressure oil pump and nozzle imported from BOSCH.Products from global top-level suppliers have guaranteed the excellent performance parameters of ISF2.8 engines.By way of testing and putting to use,the engine has been found well-performing among similar products domestically.The deep collaborationn between Hua Chen Automotive and Cummins is mainly for the sake of making full use of the resources in products and technology bothsides and integrating the advantages in their specialized fields so that the ISF2.8 engines can exert outstanding performance in the vehicle.A prominent cost-performance ratio vehicle model will be designed according to the market demands.This project is based on the technical cooperation between Hua Chen Automotive and Cummins,using Cummins ISF2.8 engine and the car body of Hua Chen Big Sea Lion as research object to complete vehicle calibration and development.The project is aiming at the optimized matching between intake&exhaust system,cooling system,fuel system,clutch assembly and gearbox assembly.In addition,emission and NVH testing for the vehicle will be carried out.The research results showed that after the optimized matching between the engine and whole vehicle,the vehicle has fine quality of power performance and fuel economy as well as meets the power demands on the plateau.The established performance requirements(especially NVH property)has been met.The emission requirements for self-developed Euro V light-duty diesel vehicles have been accomplished.Domestic advanced level has been reached so that the product can be used as an industry guidepost.At present,the project has went into quantity production and exported more than 1800 units to Chile successfully.
