With the development of the wireless communication technologies, mobile wireless network has been wildly used in everywhere.Vehicular Ad Hoc Network(VANET)has experienced an extremely rapid development.VANET is a special and important type of MANET which has the characteristic of ad hoc network, mobility of the nodes, wireless autonomous network and without prior plan or arrangement of the network topology.Due to the restriction of the road, nodes in VANETs cannot move as randomly as those in MANETs.Consequently, the movement locus of the nodes are the paths of real-life road. However, since the network topology changes frequently with the movement of nodes, unstable link situation and low bandwidth make the transmission in VANETs with low efficiency, espeically influence the QoS of video streaming services. On the other hand, with the fast development of communication technologies and increased requirements of data transmission rate,multi-interfaces and multi-homing network environment become more general, especially in wireless network. And mobile communication terminals have already evolved with multi-interfaces and support multiple wireless networks access.Multipath Transmission Control Protocol(MPTCP)was proposed for providing multiple path transmission using multi-interfaces which can improve the utilization of the network resources. Therefore, using MPTCP for data transmission will aggregate the bandwidth and improve the rate of transmission. However,in hetergenous wireless network, the quality of each path of MPTCP is different, traditional fairness distribute data to each path will decrease the efficiency of transmission.Motivated by above issues,a novel mobility adaptive and loss differentiation based MPTCP data transmission was proposed. The main contributions of essay are as follows:(1)Build the queuing model to analyze each path qualities for reasonable data distribution in MPTCP.(2)Propose a novel congestion control which can differentiate whether the packet loss is caused by congestion or random wireless error.(3)Design a link reliability estimation which will check whether the link is disrupted and handover data to the reliable path for transmission.(4)Exploit an NR-SACK based acknowledgement mechanism and retransmission policy in MPTCP for VANETs,which can manipulate out-of-order data and reduce unnecessary retransmission. This paper makes use of the popular network simulation platform NS-3 to perform validation and performance assessment.Simulation results demonstrate how the proposed solution in this paper outperform standard MPTCP solutions.
